Seen a couple of posts and rumours about his future.

One stated he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Warrington.
The other stated he is off to Hull and the final said off to the Crusaders. Can't see the Crusaders one with Noble.... could see the Hull one happening.

Having seen Hodgson play at the weekend, I hope thats not the standard we are getting.....

With Hicks going you could argue there's a place for him as a utility back or on the wing, - especially as Che has said he's not expecting Hodgson to play week in week out.

I think Warrington will have the bargaining power if they want to enter negotiations. Given his complete failure to sort out his error proneness I can't see any other SL clubs making him a serious offer. I've always wondered how he'd handle other positions, ones where he isn't relied upon to catch the ball from bombs.

If i remember rightly he threw three passes which were beauties yesterday setting up three tries! Utility back sounds good. Id rather sell Kev Penny n keep mathers!

Of course SL teams will make him an offer... mathers has re-built his career at wire and has been turning in some tremendous displays of late.

To say that he isnt good enough to attract an offer from other SL clubs is ridiculous.

well ive seen nothing official about him leaving, guess all this is just because he as yet to be offered a contract, better to just wait and see,as for my thoughts well i think he as improved a lot over last few games wether this is down to the fact hodgson signing or it just down to himself, well id like him to stay.

Read it again. I said 'serious offer', i.e an offer worth rejecting a reduced deal from Warrington for.

The likes of Saints, Leeds, Wigan, Huddersfield, Hull etc are surely too strong to offer him anything. There is always the possibility at clubs like Bradford, Crusaders and Salford, but IMO it's not likely they will offer him anything worth taking.

Mathers has rebuilt his career has he? Or has he been a defensive liability that gives his coach heart trouble? You wouldn't be signing a 33 year old in a position almost no teams carry cover for if Mathers was highly rated or playing well, as he's not at all injury prone.

I would say that Mathers would be an excellent signing for Hull and is exactly what they require at that club from what I can see. Just as Mathers was exactly what Warrington needed in the changing room when we signed him.

Its strange that opposition fans constantly berate the quality of Mathers yet you will be hard pushed to find a Warrington fan who would question whether he has been a good signing for us or will wish him anything but the best if he leaves.

66 seconds into last year's Challenge Cup Final Mathers ensured that he will forever be a positive part of Warrington's history.

Personally I'd put Tansey way above Mathers and they have plenty of good young backs at the KC.

I take it you don't agree? Hardly a massively dubious thing to say is it?

It is. Jordan Tansey is not in the same class as Mathers.
