can't get my head around what has happened to the atmospher in the south stand, i know i've talked about it on other posts, but seriously, it's just gone

It's still good when it's a big game but the barmy army has become a loads of idiots so most ppl have moved away including me, I now Stand on half way line

same here, i moved down towards the west stand today and stood near mather! it was a bit better than the 'barmy army' but still nowhere near as good as it should be

atmosphere was quite good from salford speccies in west stand

i say fill in corner between west and south and stick a barrier half way down south stand...give away fans the eastern end of south stand and wire fans the west end of south, the corner and the west stand

would also be good because our team would get a roar whichever end they walk back to and away team wouldn't get anything

They definitely need a corner to join the South and West stands up, if you are near the end of the South you can't see the away fans and some of the in goal due to the side of the stand.

Then with a corner perhaps we could get more fans towards the away fans and create banter and atmosphere.

We should start a campaign to bring back Geordie & his mighty drum!

I have watched all 3 televised games since Thursday night and at all of them there were long periods where the 'atmosphere' was bobbins. So for me it was not surprising that us v Salford wasn't the best.

Oh and by the way, it really wasn't any difference at Wilderspool for games like this.

I do like the fact that when the atmosphere is good, the barmy army is considered to be everyone, yet when it's bad, it's just the group of people who stand near the drums.

The group near the drums may have a lower average age than in recent years, but there is certainly no doubting their effort, as was shown at times yesterday, Salford games just aren't going to create the same kind of atmosphere as games against the bigger clubs.

It's a shame, but it's no different to previous years, either at the HJ, or Wilderspool

I totally agree that the atmosphere has gone in the south stand. Trouble is kids have taken over the drums and they only know 2 songs. They play to fast and would rather sing about Wigan going to Rome rather than getting behind their team. You also have to take into account that the south stand selling out against Salford means we have the glory hunters coming to our ground that don't know we are the barmy army
