Due to advice from Warrington Borough council all Warrington high schools are closed tommorow due to heavy snow!!!

all primary schools as well,they will make a decision tommorrow whether to re-open thursday.
i've not seen it this bad for about 25 years.

I work in construction trade as a landscaper we have been laid of until next tuesday.

bit of bloody snow and this useless country grinds to a halt..

Its very rare we have snow this heavy its certainly the worse i've seen for many years so what should happen?...Buy hundreds of snow ploughs at the taxpayers expense and keep them in storage until it happens again...?

I tried going to work. Took me 30 minutes to get to our yard, (usually 10 minutes tops) the roads were horrendous and I don't see the point of battling around the north west trying to avoid all the idiots. It then took me an hour to get home.

Think I'll stay in bed tomorrow.

With a bit of luck my works will be closed tomorrow . Got sent home today at 1pm

Too much snow - can't cope, to many high winds - can't cope, to much rain - can't cope, to much heat - can't cope (not that happens that often) -can't cope, and the all famous leaves on the mine - can't cope.

Yes. And at the same time Warrington can fill in the corners and put a second tier all around the ground for the once in a blue moon occasion when we sell more than 13,000 tickets!

To be fair though, whilst the driving conditions were horrendous earlier they were far from impossible. Gradual acceleration and deceleration, leave plenty of room and copious quantities of common sense and all is well. Sadly there seems to be less common sense around than grit at the minute (especially the idiot down the road from us who seems to think his Focus ST is a rally car complete with snow tyres - I hope when the inevitable happens that there is nobody else involved).

I've got that weird mindset now. I don't know whether to just knob tomorrow off, or prepare myself mentally for a day at work.

I think the snow is pretty much done now, I'm thinking an overnight freeze in that, add the council have no grit left, the roads will be chaos.

I need a definition of 'snowed in', a criteria almost.

Hope college is shut too

Well it's just my luck! I'm off all this week and used up the remainder of my holidays, but my fellow work colleagues were sent home at lunchtime today and some were snowed in so couldn't make it, but getting it as a paid day.

If the same happens tomorrow, that will be a day and a half in total. I'm thinking of going back on Monday and asking for the same amount of my holidays back!

Different year, same luck.

Due to the work i do,i ahve been laid off until Tuesday.Now my boss told i would be paid in accordance to the employment rights act 1996,He also said this works out at £21.50 a day. abit less than what i do get paid.I checked my contract of employment and its says nothing about pay, being reduced. just all the rules are laid out in the rights act 1996.I checked the the rights and it mentions nothing about taking a pay cut.In fact it says i should be on full pay.So how come my boss is paying me reduced when it states other wise.Just want to be clear on things before i speak to him.
