Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the parading of the Challenge Cup after yesterday's match was just something the players (& the club) weren't especially bothered about.

Where were the fireworks when they came out of the tunnel? Why did Moz carry the cup out like it was a burden? Surely he should have had it raised above his head as soon as he got out of the tunnel?

I know that they did a lap of honour at Wembley, but I'm sure that for quite a few folk there that it would've been their 1st chance to see the trophy 'up close', yet for most of their lap of honour it was carried round as if it was someone's kit bag (see Westwood for the length of the West Stand!)

I am as proud as can be that my team have won the Challenge Cup - if I'd won it I'd be taking every opportunity to show it off, wave it above my head, be excited about it. Thanks God we have Lee Briers as he seemed to know how to show it off to the fans.

Just my opinion..........

I don't agree, the players loked very happy to parade around the pitch and meet the fans.

I enjoyed it and they looked like they did as well.

If it was lacklustre I can only think it's because 2 weeks have gone by since we won, cup paraded at wembley and all over warrington on the bus and it's a bit 'yesterdays news' now.

After attending 3 Challenge Cup finals to see us actually win one, it's most definitely NOT 'yesterdays news' to me!

Don't get me wrong it was a great acheivement but how many times can one parade the cup to adoring masses? Only took me 2 finals to see us win one. icon_wink.gif

Maybe they were slightly heavy legged because they'd just played 80 minutes of the toughest sport in the world, and we'd come to the end of a long season...

Just a thought...

Exactly what me and my mates said. You could see they shattered.

Yes, it is just you... icon_lol.gif

As for fireworks??...Are you having a laugh??... icon_confused.gif

Yes, winning the Cup was a great acheivement considering the length of time we have gone trophyless, but it would surely start to smell of a small club mentality if we started putting out the bunting and having a firework show at every given opportunity.

Personally, let's get the trophy put away in the cabinet and start planning for the next one....remember, we weren't even good enough to be even contesting the next bit of silverware on offer...that has to change... icon_wink.gif

Fair enough then, it is just me.

Trouble is, I missed out on the homecoming so was really looking forward to seeing the guys parade the trophy.

I am currently on won 2 lost 1 having been there in 74, 75 & 09 (missed 90 due to unforeseen circumstances) and nothing could compare to seeing them walking around Wembley with the trophy. I would guess for those fans who were at Wembley & the homecoming the excitement wouldnt feel the same on sunday.

I liked the relaxed way it was done TBH

Come on 2010 - go and have a well deserved break / holiday lads and see you next season.

My thoughts entirely. Plus the added fact of the dissapointment of missing out on the playoffs.

Thats the one.

Sounds like all hell will break loose if the CC isnt on show for the first home game of 2010.

I also missed the homecoming and I agree with you. Westwood certainly looked liked it was an inconvenience having to hold it and he should have given it to someone else.

I wouldn't want fireworks or anything over the top like that but I would certainly have liked to see more enthusiasm from the players. Fair enough they were tired after the season and game but it was only a five minute walk around the ground to parade the club's first trophy in eighteen years (and first major trophy in thirty-five) so it would have been nice to see them more "up for it" then the majority of them were.
