| After watching the game (yet again) it struck me just what a polished performance was put on by Chris Riley. Will it be enough for him to secure a starting wing spot next season? Or will the club pursue another 'big name'?

| first team spot for sure. can't see smith bringing in another at all. Riley is solid in defence and works brilliantly with kingy. most improved player of the year for me

| Nah, he's ginger and not big enough. Can you imagine how easily he'd get rolled over against big strong lads like Cudjoe, Roberts etc?
Gets knocked into touch too easily. We need a proper kick returner like Briscoe or Gardner.
Send him out to Leigh/Swinton and make him learn his trade. I'd be looking at signing a Vainikolo/Meli-esque left-winger for 2010.

I'm assuming the above is dry humour.
Riley has been great for us all season. Thought he did really well on Sat, Huddersfield kept testing him sll day but he handled everything.
Looking forward to him improving even more under Smith.

| I have said for many years that Riley has never let the team down. A true unsung hero !!
His decision making in defence is spot on, he made the mistake on Saturday by running into Mathers but 30 seconds later took the intercept from Mason and could have gone 90 metres to score !
Great work young Riley. A permanent fixture for me.

Totally agree. Also scored 1 of the tries of the season at Bradford.

| I thought all the youngsters played well, Riley, Harrison and Cooper.

| Saints fan barging in here but I've noticed Riley whenever I've watched your guys play and not only do I think it would be a damn shame if he didn't have a first team spot next season but also I think it would be a damn shame if he wasn't picked for wing for England in the Four Nations. The lad has a rugby brain, has pace, is not afraid to tackle (in spite of his relative lack of bulk) and loves to aim for the line either on the outside or the inside, whichever is available. I hope Smith picks him for England because he really deserves international honours IMO.

| Riley has improved tremendously this year, but still has a long way to go.
At the start of the year he was very ropey at both full back and on the wing - and blame can't all be laid at jimmy's door.
Can't see us going for another big name signing to replace him, unless they play for peanuts and that won't happen.

| Would love to see Riley keep his first team place next year, but if rumours are true I doubt it. Myler at halfback would mean Bridge to stay in the centres, and with Atkins the other centre, would this mean King and Hicks on the wings?

He'll get a starting wing spot for me, easily.
As an aside, are you going to revise your view on King not being a centre, Mark?

According to some Saints fans Matt King is on his way to Knowsley Rd.
