| Their has been a thread about your favourite foriegn imports that have played for Warrington, who were your favourite top 5 british players that have played for Wire ? British obviously means England. Ireland, Scotland and Wales so you could have welsh international Alan Bateman as an example or irish international Mark Forster etc.
They are in no particular order.
1. Des Drummond
2. John Woods
3. Jonathon Davies
4. Alan Bateman
5. Mike Gregory

| I simply cannot begin to argue with that selection. Maybe take Bateman out for Mark roberts. I don't care what people think, the guy was total quality in my eyes.

I was going to suggest Roberts but was/am unsure if he gained representational honours. I'm not sure anyone who saw him burst on to a flat pass from Andy Gregory and race through the line untouched would argue he was anything other than breathtaking.

Good choice but I think Davies is a good call over JB.

the guy was great remember we played leeds at w.spool on a glue pot of a pitch and he was pretending to be fastening his laces in his own half whilst we were attacking in there half...he got to his feet and sprinted 40 -50 yards and took a peach of a pass from andy greg to score in the railway end....and that hatrick leeds away when we put 54 on em....happy times

I think I still have that Leed's game on video. We absolutely mullered them from start to finnish. Happy days.
Roberts was in a different league from other second rowers, one of my all time favourite players.

| I wanted to put both Mark Roberts and Ronnie Duane in the list but how can you leave out the likes of John Woods who was one of the best english stand offs to pull on a Warrington short in my opinion, then you have Mike Gregory who was immense as captain, Alan Bateman was worth the entrance money alone as was Des Drummond and Jonathon Davies.
Its certainly hard to pick out just 5 names when we have had some great british players down the years from various eras.

I thought there was a well documented story about him missing out due to perceived selection bias despite him playing his opposite number (who got the gig) off the park in the preceding game before selection?
