| This Board has always been full of people constantly stating they were right about something, but it's very rare that anyone will admit they were wrong. My admission probably won't be beaten. When the rumours about Brett Hodgson coming started, I dismissed them as rubbish and quite openly stated that we shouldn't be signing an ageing washed up Aussie has-been.
I have never been more wrong in my life. Brett has been worth his weight in gold. His timing, vision and organisational skills are second to none, and as a bonus we now have one of the most reliable goal kickers in SL. He has been superb.
Anyone else? Some of the Myler haters maybe, after last week.

| "Why are we giving him four years on big money at his age? Ridiculous. He's only signing for us because the better teams aren't daft enough to match our offer."
That was my judgement on the signing of the man who is probably now my all time favourite Warrington player.

| I've been wrong about loads of things with Wire.
From about 2000 to 2005 I used to tell everyone that would listen that Lee Briers was overrated. That all this Briers for GB was a load of rubbish, and the only reason people rated him was because he hadn't actually played for GB and been shown up.
When Steve Anderson came I bought his hype hook line and sinker, I remember thinking that 2002 we were going to shock everyone that was underrating us. I was in total denial about how crap a squad we were putting together. I thought Nick Fozzard and Dale Cardoza were undiscovered gems that were going to shock the world and Craig Weston was potentially a Phil Blake type player. The only one that was right was Fozzard. When Anderson left I was cursing the short sightedness of the club, thinking if only we had had some patience, Anderson was the man that was going to take us back to the top.
I also got taken in with Cullen hero worship at first although I came off the bandwagon sooner than some Wire fans. When he was getting criticism early in 2004 when we'd just moved into the new stadium I was a big Cullen fan and thought he was the man to rejuvenate the club. In 2005 when we came 4th I saw this as vindication. It was about halfway through the 2006 season I started to have my doubts and I remember distinctly the sickening moment I thought we are going backwards, it was when we lost at Hull KR in the Challenge Cup.
Other players I was wrong about -
Ben Westwood - we went for him after failing to get Neil Turley and I was really disappointed. I thought we had missed out on a really dangerous strike player who kicked goals and instead got a bog standard up and down centre with little pace.
Darryl Cardiss - really liked him at Halifax, was made up when we got him, thought he would take our attack to new levels with his burning pace. Unfortunately by the time he joined us injury had already set in and he was never again the player he had been at Halifax.
Chris Bridge - I had given up on him before Tony Smith came, thought he was another overrated youngster that was all hype. I know he's had an iffy season this year but at centre in general he has been top class.
Chris Riley - I thought he was the next Dean Gaskell. Would try hard but would be at Leigh or Widnes within a year.
Stuart Reardon - I thought he was a class act at Bradford and Salford, when we signed him I thought this was one of our biggest signings ever, he was going to be the next long term GB fullback. I remember saying he was the best kick returner in SL.
Richie Myler - I was always a fan after we signed him but before we signed him I thought he was overhyped. I thought he was too much of a risk after just one half decent season with Salford and thought Ratchford was the better player (ho ho). But ever since he's been here I've always been impressed.

| I mostly tend to rate players too well than too poorly - too long I was expecting Kevin Penny to turn into a world class player overnight, 'with just a bit more work in defence'. I was on the anti-Higham bandwagon though, and even now I still catch myself trying to find things he does wrong, when he's had such a great season this year.
Also I was totally wrong about that knock-on at the end of the Saints game

| Richie Myler is making it harder and harder for me to hate him.....that kick to corner for Joel on Saturday alone. Sublime.

| Matt King, all that money for nothing very flash, was getting a little frustrated with him, ate my words not much longer.
The biggest one for me though is Mickey Higham, what the hell happened to him this season, playing like a completely different player, i was one that was hoping to see the back of both him and Clarke tbh.

| Higham - thought we should have said ta-ra last year.
Penny - thought he'd come good, if not at Wire then elsewhere
Hodgson - was also sceptical, proven wrong
Michael Monaghan - My initial excitement slowly subsided in his first year as flashes of brilliance were few among some fairly mediocre showings at halfback. I'd more or less given up on him by the time I saw him moaning on Facebook about having to go back to the UK winter for pre-season at the end of the season. He hasn't looked back since Smith arrived.
And going back a few years
Steve Anderson - bought the hype
Stuart Reardon - bought the hype

| I was neglecting saying it for a while but as others have said, Higham. I was 100% right at the time (he was dross) but he appears to have found a new lease of life this season and I was wrong to suggest we desperately needed a replacement hooker this year.
There was probably a time when I thought we would never win against Saints and I remember saying to a mate that we wouldn't win the Challenge Cup in 2009 but that was just down trodden pessimism.

After the 2009 semi there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that we would be losing to Saints in the final. I was just made up to be at Wembley and looking forward to the day out.
I was out the following day when the second semi was played and was genuinely stunned when I looked at my phone and discovered Huddersfield had won. I then got a bizarre sense of the shivers - stage fright maybe - at the thought that I might actually now be less than three weeks away from actually seeing Wire win something.

| I was at Wembley in 1974 and for the next 35 years became convinced we would never reach such heights again.
Then along comes our saviour Tony Smith and I started to believe again.
