| Have we finally turned a corner??
Ijust knew wire would click soon and one team would be on the end of a beating,
i think a few of us was waiting for a result like friday evening..
Remember something like this bout 3 seasons ago we couldnt win for toffee, then the next thing we went the jungle and registered 60+points on them.(cass)
so can we kick on from here, players seem to be fit and injury free,
i did notice louis anderson holding his ribs on friday,
so if hes not fit, what about jonno to 2nd row, riley back on the wing,
and ritchie mathers to fullback..........
your thoughts please....

| Dont get carried away.Even though the team played well, thats the worst Bradford team I've seen in years. The club is in a mess financially and physically.See how we go against Huddersfield, before getting carried away.

| Have we turned a corner ?? Possibly, but we won't know for sure until a few more weeks have passed and we look back.
However, Friday was the first time this season (apart from Saints 60 mins) when we played with any intensity in offence and defence. I thought Briers had an OK game, his kicking was not especially brilliant - it was simply a case of creating field position and defensive effort causing mistakes high up the field.
Defensively close to our line, we were still easily breached (as we were at Salford) despite Smiths comments that we have improved in this area.
Offensively I was impressed - driven on by Moz and finally giving the ball some air.
The Hudds game will be a great test on the back of Friday night, a big powerful confident pack will take some holding - a win will give us massive confidence boost,
jury still out !!

| If Landerson is out and you move PJ and bring Mathers in then it could be hard for Riley because he normally play on Hicks wing, not the other

What basis do you have for believing that? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just interested to know why you believe that to be the case.

whys that then? PJ's played RC,RW and LW recently, not done him much of a problem.

I'm sure I remember either Peter Hood or Chris Caisley come out and say they were in a mess financially, or words to that effect. Think it was round the time they last got two points deducted for breaching the salary cap. The change from Odsal to Grattan Stadium came soon after IIRC.

| Come on chaps, give it a rest. Turned the corner because you beat a bunch of traffic cones. I wouldnt mind but they still score 20 odd past you, I'd be asking questions about that before making grand declarations.

Nobody has made Grand final declarations, nobody has evern said we've turned the corner, somebody was simply asking the question and has been met with some sensible answers..until you turned up of course, try reading things first before making a yourself look a tool.

Do you know what? If saintc adopted that approach I don't think he'd get half as much stick as he does. He'd be welcomed like that vegetarian alien in V* - an outsider with odd views but still part of the furniture.

| I don't know about turning the corner, but I feel we are certainly getting there.
Our defence, despite some soft tries the other day is much better. I am not as worried when the opposition has the ball in our 20m zone.
My concern over Easter was our lack of ability with the ball, however irrespective of who we played on Friday night, our running angles, and pass selection was second to none.
The team looked well balanced too, for the first time in ages. Our forwards have always been a strength, but now that left hand side are looking like a threat, with King, Johnson and Louis, as well as Riley linking in. Bridge is always dangerous, and Hicks is a proven finisher, especially with Briers steering them two around.
This was a big step up, but we still have plenty of improvement in us IMO.

| Hudders will be an acid test, they looked quite good last night but just couldn't keep hold of the ball everytime they got near the leeds line they knocked on.

The most noticable thing for me, was our use of dummy runners.

TBH thats a load of rubbish.
My views arent taken well because they are true and from a Saints fan so many dont like it. Many of the views that I express are also voiced by some Wire fans and shock horror they get no stick at all.
This thread is about turning the corner or not and I have contributed to the topic by saying I dont think that you have. That Bradford side is the worst in over 13 years so strolling past them while still managing to let over 20 in is not a sign of turning the corner.

| I don't think your team have turned the corner just yet, but as much as people say Bradford were very poor, surely some of your tactics made them look ordinary?
If you can gain some confidence from that win and go and turn Huddersfield over, then your season I'd say be up and running.

I agree, if we play the way we played on friday, good defense and loads of options in attack, then i dont see why we shouldnt beat hudds

I totally agree with you.
That's been my concern, I can see the defensive improvement week on week, but felt we'd gone into our shell offensively. I know we've not had Briers, but I felt the options the ball carrier had against Castleford weren't good enough. (I've excused Friday at Salford, conditions wise.)
On Friday we looked a threat all over the field. Left side, right side, around the ruck. We carried a threat from our own line, in their 20m, the lot. Morley set the tone with a break in the opening minutes right through the middle. Sure it was just one performance, but if you look closely at it, there was things to appreciate that would have caused any side problems, and sure, areas that we can further improve on.
What we're getting towards now though, for the first time in donkeys, is that you have to earn your place in our 17, regardless of who you are. Penny played well - Out. Blythe was good v Cas - Out. Mitchell - Out. Grix has been consistant - Out. Vinnie only made the bench Friday, he wasn't 'restored' as such, Briers has had the same. I think it's good to see.
Y'know ? We've got options now. Outside of that 17 on Friday, Mathers, Penny, Grix, Mitchell, Blythe, Rauhihi.
The amount of smiles on Warrington players faces on Friday, and the way they seemed to share each others success was greater than I've seen in an awful long time. The mood looks to be improving, the confidence will not lift, the style of the team is improving, defensively we are making strides, big strides. King now looks the part at centre (Oh yeah, where's the 'Kins isn't a centre, he'sa winger threads this week ?). Lots to be positive about, shame folk would rather cling onto a negative at times, c'mon, we don't have too many 'good days', bloody enjoy them.
