| there is a video on a sharing site well worth watching. have a search for D-day for Des Hasler.
very similar scenario to what we are in...
so many phrases striking a chord with where we are at.
the first minute is quite frightening, with Hasler sounding like tony smith post defeat rolling out the same old phrase "we were out enthused " etc
Justin Hodges saying "when a coach has been there so long players do get tired of you"
and then Ray Warren (i think) Saying "if you sack the coach and bring in someone else will they improve? no because they dont have the cattle in the creative positions"
there are differences as there seems to a battle between Board and coach and obviously they dont have to worry about relegation.
either way I hope we are keeping an eye on the situation because if he becomes available we should be in with an offer very quickly....

Thanks for that. The similarities are uncanny.

| Well if we do lose Smith we need to get the closest possible fit to Smith as we can so Hasler sounds like he fits the bill.
My worry is what if Savelio or Patton told him he didn't know what he was doing, would he listen to them or would he try to "show them he was boss" and risk them putting in transfer requests.

| Uncanny. Some very good points in both shows. As much as I like Smith, it is not looking good for him. The 1st thing I would do is drop Kevin Brown because he offers nothing. Bring back Patton.

| Hasler is currently on $1m a year at the Dogs with a couple of years left, not sure SL can attract that kind of high profile coach

| Des Hasler will likely be getting the bullet over the course of the next week or two.
Canterbury got beat at the weekend 36-0 by an indifferent Manly side.

I'm not sure they will sack him, too big a payout

| I'm not saying Hasler is a bad choice if it was to come to it, but is it an improvement?
A coach that is stubborn about playing in their style without reflecting of results, probably due to a successful era at a previous club. Media and fan reports of them 'losing the dressing room' after a hit and miss period at the current club, reaching the grand final on multiple occasions without success.

| But. He's a full on Castlemaine XXXX Australian which automatically makes him better than our nationalised uk citizen in the top trumps of RL coaches.

| Don't know about Hasler, but worth keeping an eye on Kearney and McNamara at the NZ Warriors.

Would love to see Kearney at the club, always been a big fan. Has done it at the highest level including beating the Aussies on several occasions. And of course a throughly nice block ta boot

| Kearney is an interesting one.
When he came to Hull, he was at the end of his career and not the driving force he once was as a player but people at Hull said he was very influential as a leader and was a semi-coach for the team that year they won the Challenge Cup beating Leeds in Cardiff (and beat us and Johns in the playoffs).
Then when he started his coaching career, he was hyped up as super coach, part of Craig Bellamy's team at Melbourne Storm, got the NZ job, won the World Cup. Then when he got a head coach job at Parramatta everything went wrong, they were dire. It's only now he's at the Warriors that he's had another job.
So the jury is definitely out on Kearney given that blip at Parra.
He always comes over very well though as a strong character and good communicator.

| Kearney is a great shout.
Never been away from the game since he finished playing really.... young eager coach, with a good understanding of rugby at the top level.
Put him 2nd behind Kear

| Are the Warriors not 1 from 4 at present or have dreamt that?
It seems that the defence is very poor presently, they like the Bulldogs and the Wire look in a mess!
