I just watched the highlights on the superleague website of the last Quins game to see how Kev is getting on. As much as I don't want to say it, its a perfect illustration of why Penny is out on loan. I've seen a few other clips of him playing recently and its shown him doing some nice things and the Quins fans seem happy with him so maybe its a one off, however he shows up in 15 mins of highlights quite regularly and very rarely did I think his contribution was up to standard. I hope he is capable of putting the little things together soon enough so that he gets his chance to pull off the moments of magic for Warrington. Long way to go on that showing.

From what I saw Quins were ripped apart down the middle and as the score suggests the game was very one-sided. Strange, I thought Quins might come away with the points but they didn't perform at all. Under the circumstances it would be very difficult for KP to shine. When they're on the front foot and give him room to run he'll do the job for them. Still as many questions as answers with him though.

When we got thumped by Quinns 12 months ago by 60 how well do you think Man of steel contender Adrian Morley looked.....???

all this illustrates is Why Penny should never come back to Warrington ...too many idiots examining his every move....and looking for a fault....

I can find a fault in Chris Hicks' wing play if I watched a thumping loss and the odd try down his wing and he's about to retire after a career on the wing at the highest level...

Well said, Biscuit. A team gets shafted, and people are trying to apportion blame onto 1 man (a winger at that).

Penny remains on our books, and as a reult, WE SHOULD SUPPORT HIM, not try and demean him for everything.

We have a rare talent in our possession, yet people want rid of him, quicker than a dose. True, he does have rough edges, name me a winger that doesn't, but come on Wire fans, give the lad a break.

I couldn't name you one winger in the competition, that could have scored the tries Penny's scored against Sts (cup) and the 2 against Leeds in practically his debut match.

I just hope Smith is in regular contact with Kevin, watching Quins game's highlights and pointing him in the right direction.

I for one, don't want the club to give up on this lad.

I haven't blamed a defeat on one man or said I don't want Kev to succeed at Warrington. All I've said is that I didn't like a lot of what I saw of him in 15 mins of highlights. Watch them and tell me that you disagree. One thing about Kev is that he is always appears enthusiastic and to be trying. I would say it is evident that he was neither of those things in those highlights. I want him to succeed, I'm not blind to him under-performing because of that.

Remember Des Drummond and Martin Offiah. One fast and a monster at tackling, the other a blisteringly quick try scorer and garbage at everything else. Who would we want in our team?

Not having a go WireBuryBob, but why haven't you done a critique on people that underperformed against Hudds on Sunday or Leeds the week before.
These pages, every so often, turn into a lynchmob attack on individual players. We currently have a thread on Clarke. Not many years ago it was Wainwright. Why must certain supporters have a scapegoat. I used to stand near one such prat at the back of the South Stand (late 20's early 30's, gelled brownish hair, gold necklace, no chin....you know who you are). Whenever someone made a mistake, you got the usual " oh flippin eck (sp) Wire", yet if Penny knocked on, it was armaggeddon. The Wakefield game before the CCFinal, I'm sure he was one s
shout away from a heart attack.

Stop the bullying (cos that's what it is) of our TEAM (Clarke, Penny, Forster, Wainwright, Fieldhouse to name but a few over the last 30 years), or we'll end up sounding like embittered Pie Eaters (see their unappologetic harrassment of Mathers for 2 years)

Because I didn't go to the game and there is only 3:30 of highlights on our game icon_smile.gif

It goes in cycles, The Wainrights and Clarkes etc, they both had periods where it was cool to support to them again after they had taken all sorts of abuse. As I have stated before, I watched the highlights to see Kev play, I watched out for him and what he was doing, it was lethargic and lack-lustre the majority of the time in those highlights. I regularly watch his highlights on youtube, he can do some incredible things. Watching his break against Cas for Quins up the middle of the park I got excited about the prospect of him all over again. However, against Wakey, he was bad, very bad.

So WBB, you decided to start a thread on Penny having a poor game. Players have them. Where are your threads on other players having bad games. I'm sure proven Test international players have had them this season, but you decide to pick on a certain player.

Why is it "cool" to support players from your own team who've previously been mocked. Surely we live as a team and we die as a team. We shouldn't single players out for abuse.

This is no more than bullying (imo).

I don't see the issue here.. all Bob has said is that it appears that he played poorly against wakefield.

Are people not allowed to have a critical opinion on a player anymore?

Bob doesn't need to justify the post by making a thread on other players that have played poorly.

Of course they're entitled to have an opinion. It's just depressing that it's just directed to the same one or two players.
Some people can't wait for certain players to have a bad performance...it's just like saying "I told you so"

yes but there were also plenty of posts about how wonderful he is when he scored a few weeks back.

Polls saying how much better he is than Rhys Williams and so on.....

There will always be praise.. there will always be criticism.

It's typical of the "supporters" of this club though.

Yes there are posts lauding KP, but i'd say, since the dropping of him (1st game of last season, where Lowes hung him out to dry) and ever since, they've been outweighed by the posts that are "out to get him".

If we're not careful, the club will sell him on, and he'll go and make a star of himself at a rival SL club or even union (they sniffed before).
