A futile exercise really

A Cullen team comes up against one of, if not the, best teams in the league and put in a valiant effort totally dominating for long periods of the game - and lose, with the result sealed in the last couple of minutes.

Sound familiar?

Thought Fax were by far the better team, awsome in defence and always looked like they could score. i would have given worrency the MOM. Fax looked liked they had 3 more players than Widnes and absolutely dominated the collision.

I don't remember it ever having been the case that you got promoted for winning the first game of the season.

Why is it "for nothing"? Leeds didn't get promoted, did they win loads of games last season for nothing?

Why can't winning the Championship be an achievement in itself?

It was good game to watch and more interesting/ exciting than watching Warrington at the moment.

Considering it was 'futile' nobody seemed to have told the Fax players who defended with enthusiasm, commitment and determination.

It is typical of many RL supporters to dismiss anything lower than the top division, a fact I find rather depressing and incredibly disrespectful to players of the game at all levels.

im not 'dismissing' them i actually feel for those guys who are not given a fair crack of the whip because of what i perceive as an unfair franchaise system (even if it does rescue us this season)

What if they don't want to play for those teams in the SL. what if they wanted to play for a team they stood on the terraces as a kid watching then went through the youth teams and finally into the full squad. Only to be told that it's the end of the line unless you leave
