| Chambers....Asst coach to Van der Velde
Marshall.... Powell’s defensive coach
Have we got this one even half right?

| Back in the day we used to have good backs-against-the-wall performances when a caretaker coach came in.
Remember when Dorahy left, and we put Alex Murphy and Paul Cullen in charge for a game at Wilderspool against Wigan, and Nigel Vagana blitzed them with a hat-trick. One of my favourite Wire games of the 1990s. I remember the build up and hype about that game being unusually high and I had a feeling all week that we would win.
The one I didn't expect to win was after DVDV left and then Neil Kelly who was supposed to be taking over, changed his mind and re-signed with Widnes. Paul Darbyshire took charge against Bradford who were at their most dominant and we beat them in a night game on Sky with Rob Smyth running the winning try into the corner near the end.

| Marshall was head coach at Halifax, but I get the feeling when he left them that be realised he would struggle as a head coach given his expertise at the time.

Sometimes "Superblue" you have to look a little bit deeper. I believe there may be more on their CV's than you are suggesting. Give em a chance 'eh.

He did very well as Holbrook`s assistant at St Helens, which could be a combination that we end-up with?
He left St Helens to become Head Coach at Salford, but that didn`t go well for him and he was sacked.
Wire signed him after that, as our Academy Coach initially, until he was moved to being an Assistant 1st team coach to Powell.

| I seem to recall people bemoaning Briers coaching abilities as assistant to Price given our attack at that time couldn't prise open a tin of beans let alone a defence.
Now he's the heir apparent to Wayne Bennett and on the shortlist for the Wire job.
Lets at least wait until 10PM Friday before starting the critique on the Chambers/Marshall linkup.

| It's interesting they've gone for Chambers with Marshall rather than Marshall with Chambers. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Either way, I'll be behind them both on Friday. Actually excited for the game. Come on The Wire

For me, it is a subtle indication to Marshall that he won`t get the 1st Team Coaches` role, this time.
Chambers won`t be interested in getting the Top Job and will be happy to continue with our Youth Development.

The amount of times I watched that 1997 match back the tape was nearly worn out.
With the Bradford match I can still hear Stevo saying ‘The Warrington fans are going bananas’ we certainly were.

It's an interim solution, not the long term one. I wish them well, and just hope that the players give what the club and supporters deserve, from Friday, onwards.

| I wonder if Warrington will ever be any more than a roller coaster club who can be classed as there or there-abouts. I've watched since the sixties & they have never continuously set the world alight even though we have had plenty of magnificent wins in that time. I have never really expected them to become a club that will build a dynasty & can't see that happening anytime soon. With what players are available it could well be a hard slog for whichever coach we get & maybe a couple of locals maybe more prepared for long term rebuilding than a fly by night Aussie.
