Apoligies if this has already been covered but can folk who love Walton Gardens and believe it should remain for the people of Warrington ( like Haigh Hall and Sherdeley Park in Wigan , St Helens) please read the website below - seems like our marvellous Lymn based Lib Dem council has done a secret deal with property developers for the region of £20 million . Bit late to do anything I suspect unfortunately ...

The deal to turn Walton Hall into a Boutique Hotel, private golf club, and riverside bar is far more advanced than than the public are aware. A meeting in Stockton Heath on Monday informed residents that circa 50% of the land will also be taken from public use.

The 'deal' includes granting a lease of 125 years to the developer.

Shame about the gardens but I've always said in the right hands and privately run the golf course could be an absolute belter - and I know the people at deVere were thinking the same way as around 10 years back they wanted to add it as part of the facilities for the Lord Daresbury

All that will be left is the swings, the zoo and the pitch and put. Everywhere else will be off limits.
The people of Runcorn will be gutted.

Was packed out this Bank Holiday Monday. Stick to your Playstations and Shopping if you like. Some people like more than that.

This man disagrees...

It will be a travesty if this goes ahead as suspected, first I've heard about it to be honest.

Unfortunately, there is a £30 million deficit in WBCs funding over the next three years. Right or wrong, expect more of the same.

What a load of cack.If all you want to do is sit on the grass why don't you take your own advice and do it in your own back garden.no one is forcing you to pay them prices.this town is already saturated with empty houses and flats.I been running round that area for years and very pleasant it is to but another housing estate is not what this town needs.Agree will be scandalous if this goes ahead.

You are correct, you are entitled to you own opinion. As am I, and my opinion is that your opinion is complete horse, just like Harvey 69's.

Went on April Bank Holiday when the sun was shining.

Nothing like a nice walk around the pitch and putt golf course on a day like that, fresh air, sunshine, exercise.......can't get that couped up in your house being boring.
