Long-time users of this forum will know that I am usually unrealistically optimistic about our chances each year. Well, it's gone now. I am very worried about our chances next year. Our 3/4 line looks awful compared to five or six others in the league, our pack doesn't have enough oomph, our juniors don't seem to make the long-term impact others' do, there is a staleness about our squad which I'm not sure the new players will shake up that much - Ratch, Atkins, Hill, Westwood, Currie, Harrison will all still picked week in, week out.

To give me a boost we need Gidley and Sandow to create havoc (for the opposition) in the first two or three months of next season, a few games where we keep the opposition below 10 and Lineham, Penny and one of our centres all scoring almost every match.

We aren't half topping up our squad with some more .that's my worry. (lineham isn't just not required).

Plus we Can't defend can't attack and are soft touches too.... the ingredients to a god awful season..

I'll be there though week in week out. ....These idle hopeless houses aren't ruining my weekends. ......
well they will but you know what I mean.

I see absolutely nothing to make me think that next season will be any better than this one.

However, im willing to give the people in charge the benefit of the doubt at the start of next year.

Im not sure how many games it will last though.. a couple of poor performances at the start will probably do it.

Gidley will bring some professionalism but besides Hughes (who I think is a good signing) the other captures (Lineham, Dodds and Sandow) don't greatly inspire confidence. Sandow in particular looks like being another overseas flop (but then again everyone I know in Australia said he would be).

We still need one more prop, a specialist centre and more importantly a new attitude and desire instilled by a fresh approach to the coaching.

Definitely not optimistic but not pessimistic either. Ambivalent.

I think it'll look differently next season. I think Warrington expected to be top four this year with a large degree of comfort. When things didn't go to plan I don't think there was enough of a response, it was a case of 'we're doing what we used to, but it's not working'. Combine that with a few players not knowing where their futures lay and Smith's demotivation of your halves and it's no surprise you've failed. I think the Cup distracted you as well, costing you ground in the table.

I think a change of coach would be good for Warrington. It's bound to get stale when a coach has been around for as long as Smith has, and without any success in the league. With the Dodds signing your squad is good enough to win Super League, but it has been for most of the last 5 years too. Actually achieving it is another matter. Your recent performances are born of giving up, which isn't a particularly great sign if you are looking for indications for next season.

You've also got to look at the other top sides. Wigan? Sam Tomkins back but a lot of eggs in that basket for me. Their front row is terrible. Leeds? Heart and soul of the club ripped out with Peacock and Sinfield gone? Possibly. Saints? Bang average across the park with Masoe gone and another year of unambitious recruitment. There is only really Huddersfield who look like they will be stronger next season, but they have the same lack of experience of winning that Warrington do.

Replacing Smith might be the best option? It's bound to be discussed at the end of this year if your performances don't pick up.

i think its inevitable. It wont happen before next season though... probably mid season when things are looking grim and the fans have had enough.

Personally i think we should have included him in this clear out..... Seems strange to remove so many staff in one swoop, yet keep the person responsible.

I feel exactly the same

I can't find optimism for 2016 based on what recruitment I have seen so far, coupled with the remains of the current squad.

Everything feels so reactive. Did the club really not see this coming given all that we have lost from the squad these last few years and never replaced? I find it astonishing to be honest.

Hopefully we wont have the long term injuries to contend with add to that an improvement in the general conditioning that should give us a brighter outlook, the big ask is will Sandow and whoever hit it off as that partnership has to work from day one, we will have runners in Currie, Hughes, Atkins can still hit a gap if given the service as can Lineham and Penny all the youngsters have had a years experience, so we should see an improvement on sixth if no sign of that then I would expect Smith do the decent thing.

We are not going to be world beaters but being ever the optimist hopefully with one more signing I would expect us to finish fourth.

No confidence in Smith, Last year for me in 2016, if there are no trophies then i don't want him in charge in 2017. I can't see us winning without a complete attitude change, i don't think he has it in him.

Coupled with the fact that at the beginning of the season he was dropping wrong players. Obrien had a good game and Myler had a poor one; Obrien would be dropped, it made no sense, same with Penny.
There was no incentive to play well as the same faces got picked regardless of form, it wound me up.

Agar appointed in any capacity was a mistake but i don't blame him like some do, but i would get rid of both him and Smith if we continue like this next season.

this season has been over since the semi final defeat. It's just dragging to a close, I think the players want it to be over with as much as we do. I can't wait to get these last two games out the way, so I can write this season off, take a break and then look forward to next season as a clean slate.
