| You’re getting a top tier prospect there if that comes off. The competition at Wigan is huge but I think he’s good enough to see it off over the next 18 months or so. He possibly sees a quicker route to a first 17 spot at Wire and I presume it’s a good offer on the table. It would be a pretty big coup that one and pound for pound I think could end up being one of your best signings for a good while.

| A really good signing, he looks quality and still only 18. I think its also a good indication that Powell knows who he wants and is making the changes at pace. He still needs to get them all working as a team and motivated of course (haha).

Just a tad suspicious as to Wigan`s motives in selling him, if he is so good.
Never seen the lad play, but he features (If selected) in the next Premier Sports televised game playing for Newcastle, so with Riley Dean also playing ,it is well worth viewing.

I don’t think we are selling him, I think we’ve been slow in tying him down and he’s free to field offers from elsewhere. I presume Wire have blown ours out of the water and I can understand why. You’ve signed ex Wigan forwards like Bullock, Kibula, Hughes etc over the last few years and I can recall coming on here and questioning the lot of them but not with this lad. If you get him, I think you’re getting a lad who will play for England at some point.

Thanks for your assessment. Hope he turns out to be a top player at whichever club(s) in the future.

| As NK has said this is probably your best signing.
Wigan victims of their own success bringing through too many players.
He’s twice the player Longstaff is.

| Longstaff is still pretty decent. I’m sure they’ll both be figuring in Powell’s plans for the future. Hughes will be off at the end of the year and Currie the next (depending on form and if anyone comes in for him sooner). I trust Powell’s judgement on young talent and I’m glad we’re not throwing all our eggs in the NRL basket.

Can`t see Powell offering Currie a new contract, even if he regains some form, unless he is prepared to accept a significant pay drop for 2024 onwards.

He’s already took a big drop in his last contract.
Currie is a great versatile player. He like every other outside back/backrower is playing with a beaten pack. There has been no weight up front.
I’m not convinced we’ve enough depth to maintain the ‘possible’ improvement v Hull, of which the jury is still out on. We'll see v Salford.
We’ll see some ability again on 2023.

OK, but you fail to mention his defence.
He is a forward, he should be able to tackle.
He is also tackled far too easily by players much smaller than him that he has the stature to beat.

When you’re behind a beaten pack you fail at almost every level through fatigue.
Can you honestly point out a single player in our team that had played better than any time of their career this season? Even Wrench and Thewlis have been way off the stand out mom performances of last season.
