Wembley 09 - if it never gets better than that, at least I was there....
Wembley 10 - it did........and I was there again.

| Man is a joke, there is no way he could see that....up as No Try would NOT have been given. Kendall needs demoting to U9's he's only just about that good. Some of the decisions this weekend have been awful, but Kendall has maintained his truly awful standard. Ref won that game...
This game is truly, truly fooked.

| To be fair he had to make a decision one way or the other. As you mentioned he is useless so thatd why he got it wrong. Awful referee.

| Devil's advocate head on.
It's because he had to give a decision, he's not allowed to say "I don't know". So he guessed, and guessed wrong. He should have seen the hand under the ball and been in a better position but he wasn't.
The video ref couldn't be 100% sure (as the ball is hidden at the very last moment), so the try was given.
The rule (on field call) is to blame here more than poor refereeing, even though Kendall should have done better.

Agree he had to make a decision, but giving a try on a 'hunch' is surely not the right protocol, and shows up a total inadequacy to perform his job.....but of course nothing will happen, hence, the game is dying.

| If we had taken our chances, or even our conversions, it could have been much different. Listening on the radio we bombed a few.

| The LAST clear view of the ball...the LAST ACTUAL EVIDENCE of the ball...it wasn't on the ground. After that its a guess...and the worst ref in the northern hemisphere decided to give it.

Surely, to give a try, it HAS to be PROVEN to be scored. NOT A GUESS
I wonder what Kendall would have given, had it not been a TV game....held up over the line??????

| Yes Kendall is by far the worst official in the whole of SL but we had plenty chances win that match so only ourselves to blame.

| Rather than question the ref I would question how we ended up defending our try line . Watch the defensive set of 6 before that. I was comedy defending. I know they played a game a few days ago but so did Hull FC

| the rule should be "give me a reason NOT to award the try".... and the reason was it was never seen on the ground....so no try. I think this is what they do in Union.

| Has anyone noticed how they do it in the NRL? If the ref gives a try, the bunker has a quick look whilst they are celebrating the try, and lining up the conversion. If the bunker see anything that might rule the try out, the ref is informed asap, and the ref then holds up any procedures so the bunker can take a closer look. I haven't a clue why we don't use that here. I would also like to add that i really like the captains challenge but we can't use it here because every SL game isn't shown on TV.

I said on Twitter I'd have been raging if that was Saints losing to that call. But, it's a very difficult one to find a system for. The benefit of the doubt to the attacking team mantra comes into it, you can always flip your argument and say they can't prove he hasn't scored either. It's entirely possible the ball squirms off the hand under it or that he forces one end of it into contact with the grass. We'll likely never know and if it was disallowed, rather than being on this board, it'd be on Hull's with them saying the opposite.
Interesting tactics from Wire today I thought. Ultra quick play the balls, so many scoots or quick darts at the line and throwing it around like it's the last 5 minutes of the game all game. It looks very lively and threatening and is similar to how you used to play against Saints. It'll bring a lot of line breaks and I guess is playing to your strengths as it avoids the forwards. It's a flawed system though as playing at that intensity will bring about a lot of errors. Your outcome in a lot of games will likely be determined by how many balls you drop and you'll defeat yourselves at times.

None of that would help here though. At the end of the day they've either got to decide benefit of the doubt to the attack or defense as they can't see where the ball ultimately ends up.
