I had my first jab on Thursday - quite a surreal evening having to queue at the west stand - particularly as exactly a year ago to the day I was listening to us playing Wigan in Florida! Who would have thought it!

Anyway after the jab I felt for the first time in a year that there is a way back to actually watching a game live before long. If I get my second jab in 12 weeks as the nurse told me then that takes me to Thursday 22 April - which means I’m probably good to go shortly after.

I think the club was saying that they expected crowds to start coming back approx two weeks after the planned start date of 25th March so if I can plan to join the crowd by the start of May then that sounds great!

Have you had any mild side effects? I ask because a couple of people i know have felt queasy & washed out for a few days after the jab.
I'm not due yet ,but my wife is having hers next Sunday. Anyway ,well done you.

Heard the same, though about 50/50 no side effects/side effects of the 8 people I know.

Side effects have included sore arm, headache and mild flu symptoms.

Just a thought - and I'm not likely to get a jab for some time - it would make sense to me that if there are restrictions on the number of fans attending a match then the stating point could be season ticket holders who have had the jabs followed by others that have had the jabs.

I know it's not going to be popular with some but honestly it makes total sense to me.

Clearly it would tend to be an older age group who would be able to attend, but if that's what it takes to get species safely at the HJ then I'm all in favour of it.

The alternative could be Covid infections followed by yet another period of empty stadiums.

I don't think there is any way to genuinely prove who has had the jab and who hasn't though is there?

You get a piece of printed card that people have already said is easily forgeable if you wanted to.

From what I have heard there seems to be a low percentage, with side-effects, after the jab.
I think it would be best not to get too excited about a return to crowds. Who knows what twists and turns are to come. It does seem that most decision makers are guarding against being over optimistic. The Government, and more than one scientist, have been bitten on the bottom more than once.

I would imagine the way forward would be what happened in December with fans allowed back in stadia in lower risk areas, but with a cap on attendance and social distancing enforced (certain number of seats gap between fans) etc

One of the main reasons we have seen a big increase in cases in the UK is because of a mutation that makes the virus much more transmissible. However there are two other variants ( Brazilian and S African) which are already in the UK, contain the UK mutation, and have another mutation which allows the virus to evade neutralising antibodies. This would make a lot of current vaccines much less effective. So I think it might be a bit optimistic to assume we will see crowds back at the HJ at the start of the season. I know that all sounds a bit pessimistic, but we are already in a situation where our flu vaccine is modified each year depending on the strain that is most prevalent, so we might be looking at a similar scenario with the SARS Cov 2 virus.

Some countries have said quite openly that they are looking into vaccination passports (most likely electronic) and I think I read that there are feasibility studies going on here. That doesn’t, of course, mean that they will be introduced. It raises all sorts of issues surrounding fairness for people who have yet to have been offered a vaccine or who cannot be vaccinated due to other medical conditions. Then you have the whole question around those who choose not to be vaccinated.

At the moment there is insufficient data to say whether, or to what extent, the vaccine stops people spreading the disease. The vaccine is effective at preventing people from becoming seriously ill, and it is expected to reduce the spread, but it is too early to put figures on it. If data was to emerge to show that the vaccine dramatically reduced the spread of the disease then that would raise the pressure to issue vaccination passports as it would become very difficult to justify continuing to place restrictions on people’s lives where they were not posing a threat to themselves or others (including the NHS).

All told, a trickier problem than deciding how you accommodate both Ratchford and Ashton In the same team.

Hopefully it won't be long until we can get a few thousand fans in, quarter full perhaps. Think needing to prove vaccination is too tricky to police and too easy to cheat.

My missus got her jab today at the HJ today (no side effects yet). Reminded me of how much I miss going to a match!

After the jab they kept us back for about 15 minutes to make sure we felt OK.

My arm was sore Thursday night and through Friday similar to a flu jab I guess. The only difference I noticed was a bit of a headache Friday and Saturday. Nothing to bother me but I don’t normally get them, so I put it down to the jab. My sister in law had hers at the same time and had roughly the same sore arm and headache! Once you’ve had it you do feel better about things although I realise there is still some way to go.

I think there has to be a way of confirming that you’ve had both jabs by way of a passport or similar with a photo - which might have to be renewable depending on how often we will need future jabs. At the moment I just have a paper card which someone quite rightly pointed out is open to fraud. Difficult problems and decisions.

From what I've heard, should the variants be unaffected by the current vaccinations, then they'll be dealt with in the second shot. Hope were heading in the right direction, fingers crossed.
Also, and again from what I've heard, it's the Oxford vaccine that affects some people with flu like symptoms, and a lack of energy.

Yes I had the Pfizer vaccine and I never had any flu like symptoms so perhaps we do get different side effects with different vaccines.

Older/vulnerable speccies will have spent the last year living in fear of the virus so if they are prioritised for tickets post-vaccination when the return to limited crowds comes back its fine by me.
