Well it’s not like we have not signed players with baggage before.

He has his beliefs, that's not a crime. Are his beliefs archaic and offensive? To most people, yes. Did he have to force those beliefs onto others? Absolutely not.

Les Cats and the RFL have him on a strict contract and as long as he sticks to it I think he will be an immense talent and will definitely add some X-Factor to the league.

It looks as though the League were stuck as he hadn't broken any laws and he wasn't under their jurisdiction when he made the offensive remarks and therefore cannot be charged with bringing the game into disripute.

It does sound as though both his club and the League have reached an understanding that he'll keep his opinions to himself in future and I would expect that the League would take swift action should there be any further transgressions.

Finally common sense provails.

Yep lets sign a player who said this in public two months ago;

"Look how rapid these bushfires, these droughts, have come in a short period of time. Do you think it’s a coincidence or not? God is speaking to you guys."

And this;

"WARNING Drunks, Homosexuals, Adulterers, Liars, Fornicators, Thieves, Atheists, Idolators HELL AWAITS YOU. REPENT! ONLY JESUS SAVES”.

That would promote harmony on the terraces, amongst the sponsors and in the dressing room. Just not worth it no matter what a player he is (was?)

And to think i got slated for even imagining this scenario only 9 (?) months ago.

Seems the RFL are somewhat disappointed with Catalans as well.....

Mr Folau is going to cop some almighty stick from the terraces.

Ian leneghan has just been on 5live talking about Folau and the LGBTQ+ event they’ll be holding for their home game against Catalan.

I, for one, thought he spoke incredibly well and couldn’t fault him. I think it’s a brilliant idea and says loud and clear that everybody is welcome in Rugby League.
