| Dec Patton by a country mile surely, if we're to have any chance of pulling off a win?

| Stupid question really. I'm excited by Riley Dean but he's nowhere near ready for Saints in a Challenge Cup final.
Let's just hope neither play.

What’s the solution, then? Mamo at FB being kicked to death (and likely providing his usual knock-on-a-thon), with Ratch and Austin in the halves? When did Ratch last play there?
At least Patton has scored a Grand Final try as a half back, for what it’s worth.

Had a brain fart and forgot Smith was ineligible.
Patton it is.

For what it's worth it has to be patton, Dean looks like a prospect but he won't have had nearly as much time working with the rest of the team as Dec has. Ratchford would be ideal next to Austin if we had another really good option at fullback but we don't.

| Riley Dean worth another look against Wigan, then if Patton is not fit (which is a possibility) it might be easier to assess if he's an option. Another possibility is Mamo or Thewlis to FB and Rachford in the halves.
Also, there's no guarantee Austin will make it. HB must be very fluid area for SP, as things stand.

| Ratchford at full back with Austin and Patton in the halves was the combination that saw us to 2nd in the league. When Ratchford was injured was when we started (and continued) to stutter in attack. The game against Saints demonstrated the space he creates.
Riley is one for the future, but a bit more than 2 weeks into the future.

That’s a good call.

| The issue should be is Riley Dean good enough NOW? While everyone rightly praises him as a 17 year old debutant, if Patton had made the same mistakes there would be immediate calls for him to be dropped. He isn’t ready for regular senior rugby and it would be unfair to heap that pressure on him at the moment.

Not yet. I admire what they do and get the amount of work involved. Just wish they would drop the silly sexist innuendo and constant totally-unoriginal barrage of 'puns' surrounding the word 'balls'. I'll overlook the questioanable use of copyright music.................
