From what i heard about Tony Smith, he hated Wigan. Money talks though i suppose......

When TS announced his departure from the HJ he spoke about coaches having a shelf life in terms of length of time at a club and their career as a whole. He left you in no doubt that he saw his time as an RL coach was over for good. Don't think he is the sort of bloke to do an about face after 18 months.

Everything has a price.

TS came across as a guy who could not be bought, and that he did coaching for the enjoyment of it. It was the correct time for him and the club that a change of direction was needed. Whether TS is ready to come back into coaching is anybodies guess, and it's also assuming that Wigan are interested in replacing Lam.

Agree. Who knows, in the time he has spent out of the game he might have reviewed his situation and come to the conclusion that although he might have have felt he had become stale at Warrington and fallen out of love with the game he is now refreshed and wants to jump back in.

Some alarming words from Lam in the post match interview on Friday. Twice he mentioned that they had trained well during the week - where have I heard that before.
They have sold the crown jewels but they have come through adverse situations over the last few years still smelling of roses.
They had the Bateman / Mossop incident and the Tomkins brothers guide to a quiet few beers in the local to name but two.
Be wary of the wounded animal though.
If I can find an online bookie that has odds on any player to be sent off I will be all over this one.
If Wigan don't turn it around I reckon SOL will be player coach by magic weekend

Yeah so did Millward and he took the Wigan job and made them poop, maybe TS could do the same.

Be interesting to see how much time they give Lam. I bet they are not prepared to right off a season and will be ruthless.

Not easy to find a replacement in the circumstances though.

The best they could do is find a Solskjaer figure to come and "make the dressing room smile" as caretaker before the real coach comes in next year.

Maybe John Monie coming back for a third spell?
