I've seen a lot of comments of people saying we lost because of such a player or we don't have the mental ability to close out games. I don't think that is the case from Saturday.

I criticised the line up when I saw it, I wasn't comfortable with the right edge. However after watching the game it's clear to me that the game plan was a defensive one, as the score line showed, and Evans and King did very well in that department. People say we may have scored more had penny played instead but we would have conceded more aswell, his defence/positioning isn't as good as those 2 and that's possibly why we lined up as we did.

It was a very hot day, very tiring game. We lost Gidley, Westwood and Bailey aswell I think to injuries, meaning we only had one sub left going into the final stages. This is what played a major factor IMO, we simply had nothing left in the tank and no replacements available.

I thought we played well, and I'm not worried in the slightest. We are one game away from old Trafford and if we play like that if we get there, we could easily walk away as GF winners.

We lost because at a crucial stage of the game we lost momentum. Hull came home with a wet sail and capitalized.

I think the difference was that you probably didn't get enough points to show for your dominant periods in the game. You were the better side for large swathes of the match but only had ten points to show for it. Alot of that was down to our defence, but at the same time I thought you were just a bit negative in attack. This was typified by the two or three times you were in our 30 and opted to simply drill the ball over the touch line on the last. It's not like Warrington, and the overly structured attack played into Hull's hands a bit.

Everyone talked about Hull's massive pack and how they might struggle on a big pitch in the warm weather. But they are extremely well conditioned as well, and these late shows have been a feature of our game all season. 10 points is nothing when a side build a head of steam like Hull did. Did the injuries play a part, well yes in those conditions they had to have done, but you probably should have has the game under control before Gidley went off.

The effort from your boys was outstanding, I just think that the next time you play in a game like that (and with that squad it won't be far away) you've got to play to your strengths a bit more. You are not Wigan.

You make it sound like Warrington dominated the whole game and Hull FC just came from nowhere to win. For the most part is looked pretty even stuff. First half was pretty even. At the start of the second you got a foot hold on possession for the first 15 minutes or so, but after that it squared up.

The way I saw it was Hull started well and looked the best side for ten minutes, then Warrington slowly started to dominate the first half. They deserved their 6-0 lead (albeit the way it came was a little fortunate). Hull started brightly again in the second half, but from perhaps 45-60 mins it was Warrington on top again. Then obviously Hull dominates the later part of the game.

What I would say is Hull were more dominant in their dominant spells than Wire were in theirs. However Wire had longer such spells.

From minute 20 of the first half which up to that time was fairly even, we took control and certainly at the end of the half you were out on your feet. We had soaked up your pressure and were on top at this stage of the game. We were on top again at the beginning of the second half. You are quite right in saying that we failed to put the points on that our superiority warranted. Gidley and the Westwood went off in quick succession and then Snyed kicked that 40/20. That is the moment it all went south for us, along with Steph handing you possession on a plate with another loose carry inside our 20.

You breached our line due to god awful defence on our left edge. Nothing more nothing less. I sure you would agree that apart from those two kicks to the corner that you never really threatened our line. You got close, but never looked like scoring. The game may have looked different watching from the West Stand.

Hull thoroughly deserved to win the cup this year due to beating Warrington, Wigan, Catalans and St Helens. I hope the Grand final is a repeat of this final.

Got to agree with this and your earlier post in general terms. The bottom line for me was that we needed (should have had) more points on the board when we were dominant in the earlier part of the match.

In a game of very fine margins a drop before half time, that kick going over would have made the difference and not just mathematically. A score back from 10-0 down really got your tails up, from 12 or even better 13 who knows? Not quite a consolation score but more out and out panic rugby and a bit more self belief that we could control the end game.

Ah well that's the way it goes onwards and hopefully upwards

Decent post there was nothing in the game sometimes you just need a bit of luck or the bounce of the ball this year we got that, many times down in London we haven't, that tackle at the end summed our performance up. We fought like mad for each other and took our chances and scrapped a win the grand final would be great as a repeat, all the best to you and your club 2 fine sides on show and great sets of supporters made it a classic final

To be fair, the only tries you scored were from an interception and some great broken field running by clarke. Other than that, your only other real chance came in the 78th minute. Hull went very close with another kick from sneyd that ratchford just beat michaels to. Hull created more opportunities despite your advantage in field position and posession (60-40 in the first half, but not sure on the 2nd as they didn't show it). You've really not created much in our last 2 games against each other. On saturday you broke us down the middle a few times but it never looked like you were likely to score from any of them. When you were attacking our end in the first half I never once felt like you'd score other than from the interception

2 very evenly matched sides IMO who pretty much cancel out each other's threats and we'll either meet in the first round of the play offs or at OT as we're both better than wigan or saints

Didn't Hill & Atkins get held up over the line? Seems to me that would count as a real chance to score.

I was thinking in the game when we were 10-0 up that we could really do with another score because Hull were always going to get a chance of a score late on with players getting more tired. I also now hear that Sandow has tweaked his knee, and whilst on the pitch he didn't seem to be limping, but equally he didn't take line on at the end of the game as I would expect him to.

Anyway, I think it was a good game, played in hot and steamy conditions between two pretty evenly matched sides. You can't win them all - and on another day we could have won this match. Just have to hope that the injuries picked up in this match don't cause too much disruption in the run-in to the end of the season.

A. A lack of enterprising rugby
B. An easy goal kick missed.
C. Hull scored 2 more points than us.

It really is that simple

I think we had guys held up a couple of times too, but on all occasions there was never much chance of the ball being grounded.

We had three real good chances from kicks (scored two of them). We also had Fonua's half break where Shaul knocked on, and that break from Carlos down the middle, both of which were half chances at best. Tbh it was tight as a drum, you won't see many games with so few clear cut chances, and that's what a final should be.

Couldn't be arrised reading the whole thing, so just to say the reason we lost was because we missed two conversions, one more difficult than the other, and because Ben Currie couldn't keep the ball in his hand going over the line.

Kick one of those goals and we're moaning about a replay at Uddersfield at the very least. Sport hurts.

I've not watched it all back but I thought you were held up once over the line and we were with taylor in the 2nd half. Both sides forced on drop out, both had a good chance to score which was stopped by good defending, both scored 2 tries and we kicked 2 goals to your one. It really was as even a contest as you're ever likely to get. I'm grateful we edged it
