| Bit longer for me as well. The RFL have moved the goalposts that often as regards the importance of the end of year playoffs over that time, that I'm not that bothered about the champions tag. Give me the Challenge Cup each year and I'm more than happy.

| I'm massively bothered about it, but no, I don't think it's happening in 2016.

| For me it's all about that #1 spot at end of season, when ever that is.
Sky's desire to make the grand final the be all and end all of of rugby league has diminished the prestige of the lls.
They should have it so the gf winner lls winner and cc winner play in the world club challenge with their fees paid give teams a reason to try n win em

Interesting to hear from a wire fan as Chris Hill said a couple of weeks ago that if someone gave him the option now to be guaranteed the challenge cup or just to be in the Grand final with a shot at being champions, he said he would take the chance in the Grand Final every day.

| I would go with Chris Hill's comment.
Desperately want to go back to Old Trafford.
The manner in which Wigan beat us last time still sticks in my throat.

| I think we'll do ok this year. Halves look sorted. Plenty of tries in Penny, Lineham, Ormsby and maybe Russell. Strong back row. If Ben Evans gets back to the level he was at before his injury and one or more of Dodds/Bailey/Cox steps up with Sims and Hill then we wont be far off. Only thing I'm not sure about is the centres - is Atkins gonna have another average season and will R.Evans stay fit? Lot's of ifs and buts, at the very least I expect the season is going to be a lot more fun than the shower of poop we saw last year. Bring it on

I hear you. The worst thing about the 2013 final is knowing that things would have been very different had we not had to reshuffle the team so much after the loss of key players. You know it's bad when you have to move Lee Briers to fullback . . .

But listen to Eddie and Stevo and it's the second half Wigan revival that Warrington could not handle.
That really annoys me.

| I'd rather not make the play offs at all than get to the Grand Final and lose. To have all that hope snatched away in 2012 and 2013 hurt far more than the years of trophyless mediocrity I witnessed prior to 2009. 2011 too when we did finish top and all genuinely believed we were the best team, only for the experience of Leeds to deny us in the semi. Those three season finales were brutal to take.
Winning the Grand Final just once would make up for absolutely everything though. It would be my best night as a Wire by a country mile watching us hold that trophy aloft.

Each to their own of course, but, I can look back at those recent near misses with pride and a little one eyed if only Myler this and Ratchford the other and still believe that we were the best, (I know we were not the Champions for any visitors) when we won the LLS.
Give me that any day above mediocrity I want to be in the mix, a team to be taken seriously, not a laughing stock, or a team that on their day can cause an upset to one of the big boys, or even worse a team that replicates last season's form. Despite it being far from our worst that was a real let down and I for one hope that was a modern day low ebb.
As long as we are in with a shout come play off time rather than waiting for the 2017 season in August that will do for me

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| I still remember coming away from the GF against Leeds thinking it was little more than "We just lost a game V Leeds". Maybe its the venue, maybe its because "its not Wembley", but I simply didnt feel any disappointment associate with not with the "ultimate prize". Will it be our year ? Who knows ? Could it be our year ? With the squad now assembled..........maybe

| There's a lot of if's and but's in both Grand Final appearances, but the big one is the try straight after the Monaghan injury. See that set out without conceding and get in for half time and it's a different game.
But you have to be in them to win them, need early season consistency to build the points tally, can't afford to be chasing at the back end of the year

| It would take an exceptional team to go from 6th also rans to Champions in 1 year, so I don't see it. Obviously I hope I am wrong.
