Has this footage recently been added, or has it always been available ? I have certainly not seen it before. The clarity is not quite up to Sky standards but still remarkable considering it is 60 years ago. My dad's favourite player (Gerry Helme, Culceth Eagles) scores the deciding try and you can see the bald head of Brian Bevan in there as well. Even a little clip of the celebrations back in town.

| I've seen some of that footage on pathe but the sound effects really add to it.
The Wire shirt looks great. I love the traditional designs, not a lover of some of the modern shirts we've had and most others had just been okay.

| The game footage is old Pathe News footage but not sure about the victory parade footage. The commentator's voice is different from the Pathe coverage.
Oh how we could use Gerry Helme and Ray Price at half back today.

| I was talking to an elderly Halifax supporter a few weeks ago & he was one of the kids passed down to the front over the heads of supporters to get a better view.
What an age of innocence ! Imagine trusting your kids to stranger these days.

| Brilliant Chaz, my dad gave me his P&B scarf that he wore that day and now my eldest daughter has it in safe keeping for my Grandson, (hopefully only a couple of years off joining you and the other 'riff-raff' in the South ha ha)

| Well after my second kidney replacement last week I don't know if I will be able to join the hoi polloi in the South next year. I may have to make a bid for a seat in the North, although I may not be able to manage all those stairs either. Once you get past 80 life becomes a bugger.

If you ever get into the Foyer at the main entrance to the HJ, they have one of those original shirts on display with all the various medals, trophies etc.

| They had one in the George Hotel exhibition that Stevo started, I think it's closed now.
Think that shirt belongs to Jim Challenor.

| I believe it still holds the record attendance for any single sporting event ever.

I have spoken to several people who were at the game. Apparently thousands jumped over the fence due to the crush.
So the true attendance figures will never be known.

Didn't the Aussies claim to have broken the official figure with an NRL game in the last couple of years ?

Any single "Rugby League" sporting event, yes. But not any single sporting event. Not when there was nearly 200,00 in the Maracana in 1950.
