| 1. Paul Wood.
2. 3 injuries.
Brilliant game, absolutely excellent, I would go to the tactics we all saw coming from Wigan, taking people out off the ball, in the end succeeding in having one of our players removed from the field, but I would come undone with a certain someone punching a guy in the face for no real reason, he did the same against Leeds in a challenge cup final and luckily got away with it, even this time in a way, was definitely extremely lucky to not be sent off, I expect 2 games for that at least.
I am not too miffed though, we would have beaten many teams tonight, even with the injuries, just unfortunately they happened against a Wigan team who will destroy you at the slightest opportunity. Russell was incredible, He must have made AT LEAST 10 metres almost every single time he got that ball tonight, broke through the line constantly. Bravo.

| Monaghan comes up with some utterly genius plays at times. But he seems to make as many serious mistakes as strokes of genius. Utterly woeful pass for Charnley's try, you could see that coming a mile off.

| Not sure I understood how Woody cost us the game. His punch-up was a bit naughty, but it broke up a sustained spell of Wigan dominance and we should have gone on to reassert our dominance. The main reason we didn't was an insane pass by Monaghan when we were eight points ahead and on the front foot.
The injuries definitely proved our downfall. I hope someone is going to tell me Evans is playing injured because his 'efforts' when chasing back were shocking. Charnley and Gelling took the out of him.
Matty Russell was absolutely superb, our MOM for me.

| Another massive issue for me is Myler as our 'go to' for 5th tackle plays. He doesn't have a kicking game, and his inability to net us territory tonight killed us.

| I thought Myler had a good game in general, wasn't really watching him in defence but he had a hand in our first and third try, good kick for it. His grubbers are an issue though, they pretty much never come off for us, we are much better kicking to the corner for Monas, I don't care how predictable it becomes, we ALWAYS cause chaos when that goes to his wing, everyone flaps and we end up with the ball over that line somehow.

| Also, Pettybourne was winding everyone up all night and put in a few cheap shots that I saw. Not defending Wood; just saying.

| When you kick for field position you at least have a look up so you don't kick it down the throat of one of the best return FB in the game.... Not Russell the other Matty!!!
I don't rate Russell as a FB. We're desperate short on pace this season and we just shipped out our 2 fastest wingers, we ought to put Russell on the wing to utilise his quick play from acting hb.
Wigan knew how p poor we are out wide and they just moved it out to Charnley and Burgess every chance they had.

Myler's kick for Joel's try was nice; just like the 2012 CC final. They are way too few and far between, though.
I can't knock him for his defence or his support play. But that's all he'll ever be: a good support player with a good tackle (if you'll pardon the expression).

Did you not watch Russell tonight? He is doing just fine with his dummy half runs. If you stick him on the wing he's not going to do nearly as much damage as he's doing in the back right now, he isn't nearly as effective as Hodgson or Ratch in that position but he will learn that in time, the way he is able to run backwards and still hand off people barging into him and going off to make an extra ten metres forward doesn't compute with me but it's brilliant to watch, single handedly our best player tonight.

| Yes pal, and you just concurred with me about his runs from dummy half, totally agree.
He can do that more frequent by being up with the play more as a winger.

| We did look exposed on Williams' wing against Gelling and Charnley. With the injuries as well, our defensive set up didn't look solid. That said though, we played well and really should have won that at 18-4 up.

How? Him being a winger just means more time spent by the side of the pitch instead of being able to roam behind the ball when we make a break down the middle.

| Well there are forfeits but Ratchford at FB is a much better runner in broken play from centre field behind a dominate pack.
Tonight our forwards were slightly the better but our back line were turned inside out.
