| 1 Michael Monaghan (the "settled in" playing at hooker version)
2 Matt King (the "settled in" version playing outside Chris Riley)
3 Roy Asotasi ( the "Settled in" lance Todd and Harry Sunderland winning version)..

| Hard one. If its about who was the best in their peak then top spot is between Michael Monaghan and Allan Langer.
The quibble I have with Michael Monaghan is this is his 7th season, he had three superb seasons from 2009 to 2011 and the other four, 2008 and 2012 onwards he has not been at that level. He's not been bad but more on a par with Danny Farrar from 1998 to 2000: respected tough Aussie pro rather than world beater.
Langer was of course superb but was only here a couple of years.
But overall I put Langer 1st and Monaghan 2nd.
3rd spot would be between Nutley, Domic, Burns, Nat Wood, Hicks, Joel Monaghan, King or Hodgson.
Probably Hodgson.

| Very difficult and I can't remember them all so I'll be back on here again when more names come up to change my top 3 probably.....
Assuming we're referring to players (excluding TS) -
Hicks / Monas / Hodgson for me (not in any order)
Langer was unbelievable in an average team. He had talent to burn and could go out on a bender with the lads and still play better than all of the opposition - which couldn't be said of his team mates. That contributed to us not doing as well as we could have done.
Wood was a real character and as hard as nails and (I think) a real 'team' man.
I'm going to not consider Johns just because he was only here for a few weeks - so it's a bit unfair to compare his 3 matches against others who have played a full season.
Domic - great player, a favourite of mine and a great bloke. Last first team try at Wilderspool.
Burns - brought in as a second rower but played most of his time at centre I seem to remember. Very professional and a consistent top performer.
Hicks is Joel + speed. An unbelievably gifted athlete who came here as the 'third man' with Monas and King but outshone them both in his first year and maintained that standard throughout his time here. Definately top 3.
(I critcised this signing but have never been more wrong).
Monas - very very intelligent (I'll never forget his destruction of Paleasina at HJ running at him time and time again) - great defender and very influential. Top 3 for me.
Kingy - took a long time to settle down - but was a real handful when he got tuned in to our game. Just misses out of top 3 overall.
Hodgson is my 3rd top 3 choice - not fast, not pretty, not the biggest, not the best defender or the best under the high ball BUT a devastating line attacker, positional player / reader of the game and a key reason for our recent success with his organizational nouse. It's a shame his time here ended acrymoniously (allegedly), but a real top notch signing.

| I like House but not in my list.
I cut some good guys out of that list, Domic was a decent player and Appo's 'season'.
Just drew up my list, it has Solomona in it

| If Appo gets in there for his 'season' then Grose should get at look in: 5 seasons, 1 exceptional, best fullback in the league, 2 very impressive as a centre, 2 where he had drifted away.
I remember Grose being linked with Melbourne Storm at the end of his best season and had he returned to the NRL then I wonder how he would be remembered at Wire - probably as one of our most popular ever imports. Sad that his last couple of seasons he just wasn't himself, and his top flight career was over by his late 20s.
Appo gets filed under Henare for one season followed by alarming decline.

| I'm still bitter at Appo because he was kept ahead of Domic when the overseas quota reduced, and once he'd got his new contract he just loafed about, didn't look after his fitness and generally treated the club with disrespect.
Meanwhile Domic, the model pro, went on to be superb with Wakefield and later Hull. We could have got 3 or 4 more seasons out of Domic, we made the wrong choice on that one.
