| I’ve been reading the RLFans Forum and enjoying the banter for a few years now and have finally decided to join in the fun. And what a time to join! Go easy on me
I was intrigued to read on another thread someone say that they hope we sing the opposition off the park. I wonder whether we’ll be able to do this as I don’t think we have a good enough song to achieve this.
It strikes me that we have a number of chants to praise the work of individual players (Super Bennie Westwood, The Monaghan Song, Mickey Higham) and of course there is the timeless “Warry Warry Warrington” but sometimes this fails to hit the mark with only one verse being chanted before trailing into nothingness. And (like them or not) the drummers can always raise the crowd into a football-esque “der der, der der, WIRE!” but again this seems to die a death after one round.
The opposition on the other hand always seem to have a tuneful melody to chant. Leeds, Wigan, Saints and even Widnes have all made a considerable noise at the Haliwell Jones this past season. Even the Eastern Pennine clubs have sung a fair tune (apart from constantly reminding us from which County they come!) I realise that the acoustics of the HJ's West Stand resonate the sound around the North, East and South with what can only be deemed as louder noise than we are creating ourselves, when in truth we are probably giving back as much as they are, but it is the quality of the song that concerns me. My daughter on more than one occasion has asked me what they are singing.
The Wembley trips don’t cause the same issues, as “Wemberley”, “Que Sera Sera” and the “Merry Month of May” provide ample meat to get our teeth into.
However, Old Trafford is another matter. The place is considerably bigger and a large chorus of a proper tune would surely sound awesome and lift our lads right from their boots. I am one of those who have recently watched last year’s final courtesy of that generic video uploading website and the noise created by both sides was immense. {Ah, yes I remember it well} I will be part of the swell on Saturday and as an ‘East-stand-sitter’ during the regular season will be joining in as I always do, suffering the effects of a sore throat the following day, but do wonder what it is we will be singing. Any thoughts?

| Let's just sing a ditty from Les Miserables or Jesus Christ Superstar or any other famous musical
" Don't cry for me Argentina, the truth is I never left you"
Do we have anyone who is a baritone?

| A few seasons back in the Cullen era, we played at Wigan.
We got beat, we knew we'd get beat, we didn't care!
We sang 'barmy army' from minute 1 till h/t and then again from minute 40 till 20 minutes after the game had finished.
The stewards couldn't move us, they tried to drown us out, unsuccessfully with the tannoy system!
Top night that was!
Who remembers it?

Bloody Hell! Those were the days when a Wire T/V appearance was very rare & we would actually sing about it

The amount of non-regulars who turn up for the finals means getting a song going is harder than usual. See get ready for:
Wires, Wires, Wires
Oh Warry, warry
We hate wigan

You trying your Stylistics 70's flaresuit on again?
Adapt something from the taffys; simple but very effective when you can get a whole end of a ground wailing it out:
And we were singing,
Songs and Arias,
Teams of our Fathers,
Wire in our blood .....

| You mention 70s, you want to see my hair at the moment, I had my orange wire top on at the Hudds game with a proper Matt King (without dreads) curly microphone head.
