| I've now watched the match again....
Briers should not have been sent off. He didn't hit him from behind. He "lashed out". What a ridiculous fuss.
The pass from Waktins was NOT forward; the next one might have been but we've got away with many like that this year.
Westwood may have grounded the ball - who knows. Hence BOTD.
The commentary team were nowhere near as bad as I expected from the reports on here.
We won

| I enjoyed this open air performance of Much Ado About Nothing and I hope Warrington will be putting on Alls Well That Ends Well in a few weeks time.

I agree with you on the title of the thread. It’s all a load of hot air.
However, Briers should have been sent off under the current nanny state rules of the game. I don’t think that is in doubt.
In the eyes of most, including myself, it was harmless handbags and was more amusing than anything else. Although not half as amusing as the hyperbolic reaction it’s garnered from fans of other clubs (I mean grade E-F, rather than grade A – glory be!).
I think it was the correct common-sense call, but the rules would state otherwise.
It was a forward pass. A bad one: well, two bad ‘uns, actually.
I understand physics and the principles of the ‘backward through the air, forward to the eye’ phenomenon, but referees do not have the benefit of replays to determine what is correct. To the naked eye it appeared to be forward a mile and I think it should be given on that. We don’t need DRS and Hawkeye to scrutinise run-of-the-mill decisions in rugby league; just common sense.
We have got away with a lot worse this year and we shouldn’t have been allowed to.
Westwood had probably stopped moving before he got it down at the end, but who knows? Would I have been happy if that try had been awarded against Warrington? No.
Was it a try? Probably not, but, like you say, benefit of doubt could, and ultimately did, apply.
I just don’t want to face Leeds again next Thursday. They will use any perceived injustices from last weekend and, allied to their usual play-off semi-final motivations, I then fancy them to turn us over. We have to use common sense and choose the winner of Huddersfield/Hull, whether it goes against the grain of previous years’ club call selections or not.

| Well, we saw The Comedy of Errors against Widnes, so no more of that in the next one or two games, please.
Measure for Measure we’re better than Huddersfield, so we should chose them.

| Under the circumstances one wouldn't expect the protagonists to behave like Two Gentlemen Of Verona, but Measure For Measure The Tempest that this Incident has caused is akin to something that might only be conjured up in A Mid Summer Nights Dream.
Still, All's Well That Ends Well.

Agree with all of that, some of the comments on the Leeds board and the VT are just ridiculous, There's some pictures of Briers on the VT which clearly shows it wasn't from behind, and Ablett clearly saw it coming. Grade A and the EGP rewards his previous good record - seems a fair result to me.
I thought there was enough doubt not to give the Westwood try.

The funny thing about the pictures is that the person posting them is still insisting that Briers was behind Ablett.
Have a look at the Leeds match report from Southstander. I was obviously watching a different game to him.

Shame it wasn't Bailey instead of Ablett. Two pantomime villains coming face to face, or is that face to 'back' with 1500 screaming "He's behind you" and the other 7000 shouting 'Oh no he isn't".

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |

| I can only imagine how pleased TANCW is at having kicked off a "Shakespeare-athon" on RL Fans.

| Ok, as everyone else is avoiding it, I'll do it ....
If we end up facing Wigan & Tomkins in the final, surely has to be billed as "The Taming of the Shrew"
.....already got my coat ....
