| this kid is 18 years old and he was the leader of our pack last night, he was the only player who was willing to run the ball in when we were getting hammered, the only one who shown urgancy and willingness to win and give it his best, i dont know what more he has to do to start at loose next week against salford, he gives it 110% each week and never backs down! brilliant player, the future of our club.

| I've said before that Currie is the nearest thing I've seen to Sculthorpe not just at Warrington but anywhere, and yes he had a good game off the bench last night (unlike McCarthy who is going backwards).
What we need to be careful with Currie is that we don't burn him out - at the moment the pack is very lightweight and he's gonna get some heavy traffic in his direction if he plays particularly in the Huddersfield game.
So yes, worthy of a starting place next week but we need to treat him right - just look at James Graham at Saints, played 80 mins every week at Saints and already suffering with back problems in his mid-20s.

| McCarthy just wastes a place on the bench, he comes on for 10 minutes max, does nothing productive, gets smashed and driven back, then goes off and doesnt come back on...he's a waste of a squad number, he's not anywhere close to Ben Curries standard of rugby, he makes minus metres every game im getting very bored of watching him each week

| sorry but without wanting to slag off an 18 year old with all his career ahead of him but he looked exactly like an 18 year old and nothing like a Sculthorpe whatsoever. his first action was to belt out of the defencive line and attempt a hit on a saints forward..he belted out sure enough but completely missed the man..it didnt get much better for him after that.....I fear people are listening too much to Barrie mac bang on about watching him as a 16 year old for Golborne parkside ....etc etc....
but to be fair I have nothing positive to say about Wires after that effort last night

That's a massive call. A MASSIVE call.
Having watched the game live and then on the sky+ before, he really didn't stand out above everyone else as the OP has suggested, IMO.
Having said that though, I do not think you were that bad really. In the forwards it was more or less an even game, especially in the second half.

Yes it is, and having watched Sculthorpe as an amateur, his debut with Wires and his career with us and beyond I stand by it. My opinion on Ben is also based on more then one showing in an abject Warrington performance.
Incidentally, I cas assure we [iwere[/i that bad. If only by virtue that we made Meli and Turner look like world beaters, and a set of forwards Saints fans themselves have decried as abysmal look like the Kangaroos.

Is that Danny Sculthorpe?

Barrie Mac did all the 'groundwork' that allows him to BANG ON about BEN and other young players that he, and other scouts and SL coaches watched on Sunday mornings - keep listening 'PEOPLE' because he knows what he's talking about (most of the time anyway )
On that note - I saw 3 of Ben's former team-mates from that Golborne team on show in the u19s game today - Andy Ackers and Jacques Peet for the Wire and Greg Wilde for Saints NEXT WEEK, I hope to see 2 more if we're playing Salford u19s(not seen fixtres yet) - Ross Pendlebury and Chris Hankinson
Keep it up BAZ - these lads might never have been given this opportunity, but for the likes of you watching the 'so-called' SMALLER CLUBS'

| i came away from the game last night thinking of only one positive and that was Ben. in defence he is brilliant and he was showing flashes in his attack aswell, especially at the end. surely after that performance it will force smith to use cooper as a prop off the bench and play westwood currie and grix (assuming Trent is still out)

We are away to Sheffield Eagles next Saturday

Just had chance to watch the game back from Friday , did you misplace your white stick, because unless I blinked, I didn't see Ben make one single error all night, no he didn't set the game on fire but if he,s not used in the right way he never wil, so I hope the biscuit has also had the chance to re watch the game and is big enough to admit he,s talking through his backside AND please tony smith if you see this, if you have one of the best players in the world PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use him

Well obviously I am not writing him off, I can only comment on a player from what I have seen. I'm not one to just go with the hype and say he's the next Paul Sculthorpe without seeing him.
I didn't really see much to suggest he will be the next Sculthorpe, or whatever, from what I saw on Friday. I fully appreciate that you have seen him play a hell of a lot more than I have, though.

You really weren't that bad, seriously.
I think you are underestimating how well we actually played and in doing so have attributed our win for the fact you were 'bad'. I think that is a bit ignorant tbh, especially if you scratch the first 20mins off as the other 60mins was evenly balanced.

| I didn't see anything from him against Saints. He looks a decent prospect, but he didn't lead your pack like the opening post suggests. I would say solid at best, which in itself is probably an indication he'll turn out to be a good player when you are talking about young forwards.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

| Very strange comparison to Sculthorpe, I haven't seen anything to suggest he is that type of player. Strong, powerful runner with excellent speed and balance.

| That lad has got a shocking wear on him and with him on I reckon with Salford we may have a chance. Of course I said that to some people last year but we played badly
