Brilliant game, Leeds the better team, however could've gone either way. Both teams had some lucky ref decisions, however I feel Leeds were probably a bit harder done to. How the late flying nutt to Sinfield didn't go unpunished was poor. Don't think it was malicious or warranted a sin bin or sending off, but I did think it was foul play. M.O.T.M was deffo Sinfield I.M.O. but would gladly change that decision to Paul Wood after hearing his news today. Ouch.

Told the wife and kid this aft that he'd lost one of his testicles and my young daughter said "which side". We were startled and said in a shocked tone "does it matter which side?", to which she replied "no, I mean which side did he play for". Kids are priceless aren't they???

Well done Leeds and Wire for a great game. At least Wire have made the Grand Final and are 'now' true contenders.

I think Monaghan was committed to charge down the kick and it was an unfortunate collision, nothing more.

I haven't seen a replay of the game but from the stand I thought we suffered some poor calls by the referee. Whether it would've changed the outcome of the game I don't know. From memory Riley caught the ball in goal and then made it to the try line when tackled but a drop out was awarded. High shots from Cooper and Briers didn't look too bad on the screen, yet Bailey on Myler went unnoticed, as did Kylie's on Higham in which he lost the ball. Hall had a try disallowed for forward pass yet Jones Bishop's was even more forward. And towards the end a Ratchford attempted pass was knocked down by a Leeds player but the scrum went to Leeds. Maybe you see it differently on the TV mind.

Edit: forgot to mention Ablett coming in late on Briers a few times when kicking.

Mate, I'm just a Doncaster fan, so as I mentioned, neutral. To be fair it would've been OK by me to see a new team on the trophy.

The Reilly point you raised was shown on TV to be justified. If memory serves I think he grounded the ball when tackled even thou he got up and carried on out of the in-goal area, hence the drop out. Ratchford also shown to have knocked on before Ryan Hall, hence the Leeds scrum. Gotta say, I really rate Ratchford from the limited times I've seen him. Didn't see Bailey's high shot and agreed, Briers high shot didn't look that bad, but was it was high and in the mush. As for Monaghan, personally I think he was committed, however he took Sinfield's head off.

Best team won, but to be fair you guys hammered Leeds in Challenge Cup this year and when I went down in 2010, so decent success there. Just wait til Donny get there and give you a good shoeing. In my dreams maybe.

The penalty for one of our players interfering with the knee at the tackle, which led to the penalty goal, was a Silverwood classic ,there was no Wire player within a foot of the Leeds player. The Ratchford knock on was called because there was "no advantage to Leeds" but the commentators (BBC) were of the opinion that play had moved on from the knock on due to Leeds taking possession & starting a move before dropping the ball themselves which should have been a seperate incident & ball to us.Riley jumped from the field of play to take the bomb but when tackled the ball was in play although Riley was " in goal". I thought Riley did very well in that incident.

Don't know how Twitter works as such, but I look occasionally and follow Woody. If anyone knows how to put the above onto Twitter so that he can read it, I'm sure he'd find that hilarious!

e one that, the other decision that, sort of baffled me, was the monaghan knock on after atkins offloaded, i'm certain the ball was meant for riley, but ryan couldn't see monas was there due him having 2 or 3 hand on his face, why's that not a penalty?

I guess this shows how its difficult enough to judge calls at a game especially when a kind of mass hysteria comes into play - something that afflicts all fans when their team is losing/lost.

Silverwood was 100% correct with Riley. He jumped from the field of play and the ball carrying arm hit the ground in goal when tackled. He immediately bounced it the other side of the line but that's irrelevant - the tackle was complete.

All commentators on Sky and the BBC stated that calling the pass for Hall's no try was harsh. Equally, none questioned the pass for BJB's try. Most likely because it wasn't forward.

At the end Ratchford knocked the ball forward and Hall knocked it to ground. First offence is Ratchford's, again 100% correct ruling.

Ninearches - you might be thinking of the one where there was a dropped ball from a Wire player, BJB gathered and the ball was stripped immediately. With that I think there was a suggestion that BJB had crossed the advantage line. As it was pretty much immediate the referee took the right decision in erring on the side of Leeds and playing the first knock on - a good referee will do that. Likewise there was an incident where Silverwood called held and Watkins (who'd been clamping the ball in the tackle) released Atkins and Atkins passed the ball. Srictly speaking that should have been penalty to Leeds but he rightly used discretion and simply instructed Atkins to play the ball.

High shot wise, both Briers and Cooper were high without being malicious - though if you penalise Cooper then you should penalise Kylie. Others were missed, possibly the most blatant and influential being Myler's on Hardaker which gained posession for the Atkins try.

The only one that I thought was harsh was penalising for intereference where Sinfield kicked the two. There was an impact of the markers knee on the ball but I'm far from convinced it was deliberate but more importantly the ball wasn't knocked free.

For me, the game changed on two plays, one in the 1st half and one in the second half.

The one in the 1st half came when Atkins tried to offload to Monaghan at 6-6 and we knocked on, this gave Leeds possession in our 30 metre zone and they gained momentum from there.

The second was in the 2nd half at 18-14, when Monaghan went through and passed over Ratchfords head, if the pass goes to hand we go 24-14 up and probably go on to win, however again the scrum gave Leeds the ball and a breather and the momentum of game changed again.

These are just my two observations that I saw as game changers.

In Tony, we trust.:

All refs calls can often be seen two way. However Silverwood allowed Leeds outrageous offside throughout the match which stifled Warrington throughout the match. Offside is rarely commented on on tv commentary unless it's penalised. For me that was deliberate by Silverwood and an effective way to decide the outcome without attracting attention. I don't like match betting, it makes me suspicious of all averagely paid officials.

That's a bit of a sad post.

A referee can stand where he wants in a game. Some stand 10m back and are strict, some police the play the ball at some plays, others apply a big 10m taking a position some 12/13m back but allowing the players to stand in front - as long as its not inside 10m.

Silverwood took the latter approach but unfortunately a lot of fans don't understand the basics and see players from the opposition stood in front of the official and bleat about offside, while ignoring their players doing exactly the same thing on the next set.

As another neutral, who really didn't give a monkeys about who won, I can only say that it was a cracking game of entertaining rugby, played by two top teams, who fullly deserved to be at OT. Yes there were some dodgy reffing decisions, but they probably balanced out, on the whole, I thought Silverwood reffed the game well, and as a result, it was a free flowing match. Every set of fans think they have been hard done to by decisions, particularly when they lose, but on balance, Leeds deserved to win. Losing at OT is a really crap feeling, as Saints fans can confirm, but having to sit at home and watch two other teams play for the trophy is even worse. I hope we get there again next year, but not against Leeds, who are starting to become a bit annoyingly good at winning now!

Good Post.

It certainly seems to upset and annoy some Wigan fans who think Leeda are unworthy based on our relative league positions.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery....... I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself. To be fair to Silverwood, he also allowed Warrington "outrageous offside throughout the match."
