| I wander how much of this is down to them signing Willie Mason last year.

Cast your mind back to clubs that have sold players during the season and you will not be too far away.

This is scary, if the brown stuff hits the fan at KR how many more clubs will come out of the woodwork? And then we are faced with a major restructuring of our beloved game not by choice but sheer necessity .

There have been rumours of positive news from our 'friends' on the Barton Stretch for a couple of weeks now. I hope that this is the case and they get some backing

It was meant as a rhetorical question
If Hudgell does walk away, how many more (Wilkinson, Hughes, etc) will follow? And what would that mean for SL?

| Doing some quick sums from the figures on the attendances thread, they had ~100,000 total home attendance, so that must have pulled in £1m - £2m in gate/season tickets, plus another £1.125m from Sky - total revenue of around £2.5m? Player's wages (including NI contributions which don't count towards the cap) are about £2m, which leaves them with a petty £0.5m to cover everything else if they want to spend at the full cap (our total revenue is £6m, so we spend £4m on non-player costs, though that includes paying the loans to cover building the stadium + extension).
Basically, they have to stop spending at the full cap, it's not viable. It's a poor place to be in, and means they aren't likely to do as well as clubs who can reach the cap, but surely it's better to accept that and put together a good team that will do okay rather than a great team that might win a trophy in the few years before you go bust.

I hope they're not spending the full salary cap, they finished 10th in the league.
Shame that so many clubs seem to be having financial difficulties, but it makes you realise just how lucky we are to be in a secure position aided by a generous benefactor who actually supports the club.

That newspaper article says they are...
Yeah, it's such a shame that so many clubs are having problems as it weakens the sport as a whole. We are very lucky, not just to have Moran but also for him and the club to be organising the club so that we don't have to rely on his money.

| Never understood why any club spends more than they can afford. Seems simple common sense has no place in our sport.

Common sense has no place in everyday life, too.
Too many people spending above their means, so they go into debt.
Stupid spending (unfortunately) is all around us.
