| I have read plenty of criticism of Williams, stating that Riley is clearly better. I'm not saying that one game is enough to judge, but why exactly is Riley better? Williams is stronger, quicker, has better feet and can tackle. Does he have positional issues or something? I haven't seen enough to know, plus the fact that Riley was terrible against Salford didn't help. Riley has played well this year on the wing, and his been very consistent, but whenever I see Williams he seems to be as good as him.

| This is clearly a wind up. I am Better winger than Williams. Bombs simple chances time and again, looks like he is running in quick sand when he gets in open field, can not take a high ball and can not defend. Awful error for the Salford try today, couldn't get anywhere near chasing back the intercept. The sooner he leaves for Widnes the better. There is no comparison between Williams and Riley. Riley is a true siperleague class winger/fb. Williams is neither of the above.

Williams was far far better than Riley yesterday but has not proved himself at Superleague level yet as Riley clearly has. He may not become a first choice winger, but to ignore all the good stuff he did yesterday is a little unfair. The first try took a lot of scoring and he did well to defuse the Salford kick in the first place. He made an error at the end. Many others made errors too, that happens. Your post is a little harsh to say the least.

| Riley is clearly a winger. I'm not saying he's bad @ full back, but for me he doesn't come into the line enough to create things in the same way that Hodgson does.

| Not many chime into the line as well as Hodgey, that is no disgrace on the on the part of Riley. Regarding Williams, the jury is out for me. Sometimes he shows some really nice touches and other times seems he is not quite so sure footed. Not sure whether it is confidence thing, I would just like to see him get a run of games and play with the same enthusiasm as Riley and then we can make a more considered judgement. The only problem is that when you are a fringe player, which Rhys currently is, you don't get many chances to play, so when you do get the nod you really have to grasp the opportunity with both hands and really show what you can do. There is something there we just need to try and tease it out.

| I can see why you would think that. Lets's hope not because he might not get another game for a few weeks now. He could do with watching a few old Dessy videos to understand what running and defending with enthusiasm looks like. He's got the build, just needs to use it.

He seems to have an over abundance of "can't be d-ness" see him giving up on chasing the hull player last year, and his lazy kick returns, when he actually did them.
In closing, twer Evans fit, Williams wouldn't get into the side

| Fair enough then. If his attitude isn't right then he doesn't deserve a place. Shame though as he has the raw talent that perhaps Riley does not.
Not sure criticism of kick returns is fair. Riley has to induce a semi voluntary tackle in order not to be driven back 10 yards in the tackle most of the time.
Williams hasn't really been given a run to prove himself. Not saying that there is a reason to give him a go, as Riley has done perfectly well this season, apart from yesterday. Difficult to criticise him, when he is 3rd choice FB, filling in. Missing one and one tackles does worry me though. His tackling hasn't improved noticeably, unlike the rest of his game.
Williams could have scored about 8 tries yesterday if Briers and Myler were playing. They were terrified by Atkins leaving all sorts of space for Williams! Perhaps in a tighter game with less obvious space his apparent attitude issues would be more of a problem.

| He won't get in this week even with Evans not fit. If all those who didn't play yesterday were rested, then Smith has a great selection dilemma on Sunday....
Hodgson
Riley
Bridge
Atkins
Monaghan
Briers
O'Brien
Morley
Monaghan
Carvell
Westwood
Waterhouse
Grix
Cooper
Harrison
Hill
Higham
which leaves Wood (!!), McCarthy, Currie, Blythe, Dwyer all out as far as I'm concerned.

Hope thats something like the team we are going to get otherwise we'll struggle.
On the original post I'd put Riley in ahead of Williams every time.
Williams didn't look like he wanted the ball at times against Salford.
On the same note, Riley is ok as covering full back and takes (most) high kicks well but he doesn't have the attacking mentality that Hodgson has.
