| Who do you expect Harlequins to be in the market for?
Carvell? Sam Burgess?

No but having seen Hickey in action (term used loosely) for Wakefield's u20s last month then this indicates that an Aussie accent together with any kind of NRL record will get you a contract ahead of a multitude of English lads who would provide a damn sight better return for the salary expenditure.
Remember this is the Hickey who could not even provide a dent on the Wakefield first team last season when offered a short term contract as a career lifeline - how Harlequins can consider he has earnt another shot is beyond me. It suggests that Harlequins have done no "due dilligence" on the player whatsoever. They would be much better served looking at the likes of Peasnell and Broughton from our u20s.

I've been saying this for years. Clubs feel duty bound to fill up their overseas quota spots.
Simply sounding like Paul Hogan and having a penchant for barbeques, does not make you a good RL player.
Clubs like Quins should be promoting British talent, not casting it aside, because of a player's nationality.
I'm assuming Quins don't have a lot of money to spend....talk about p1551ng it straight down the drain

I thought that when I read it
Was he ever any good when he played in the NRL? I had never heard of him till he came to Wakefield.

| I watched this guy play against the wolves u20s , he look like he had crawled out of a bin , He looked overweight and slow , to think this guy has played NRL makes you wonder what has happened to this fella.
Agree with the above post far more better props in championship and we have grabbed one of them i.e HILL.

dont know why you're surprised, london have a long list of comedy players since the start of superleague.
Mick Seaby
MArk Carroll
GEorge Truelove
Kim Howard
MArk Tookey
Brett Wharton.
All of them comedy in a reinforced cotton shirt.

And would our U20s want to move down and relocate to London?
That's the problem they have always had.
To be honest we are wasting our time with RL in the capital but of course some do gooder will come on telling me how much good work is being done in the community and how every kid in Brixton is playing RL.

To be fair I picked two lads who I believe would do given the chance.
As for the second paragraph; you'll have to use some better bait than that to catch me.

Its not supposed to be bait it's what I think about London.
We have been hearing for a good 15+ years about how many junior players there are and yet London never produces anybody of note. The best they have done is been a loan avenue for players from other SL clubs to go down and get some first team experience before moving back to their original club. I would rather swap them for Toulouse, and I bet over a 10 year period we would have a lot more local produced talent coming out of Toulouse than London.

| Indeed, where is this vast gamut of London-born talent who grew up watching the Broncos/Quins and said " yeah I want a piece of that SL action" ?!
