| Is this his best season in a Warrington shirt to date?
No doubt he's a better player now than he has ever been, all the experience and skill in the world, combined with a new ethic and attitude to defence since the arrival on Tony Smith. His agression and hunger for work, especially at the kick chase is fantastic.
As Lee said after the first cup final win "People say you can't teach old dogs new tricks, but Tony has certainly done that" Or something along those lines. And he really has.
Nathan Brown said after the same game "I've watched Lee Briers play a lot of football over his career and I've been quite critical of him," Brown added. "I think he's wasted a lot of years of football because he's a very talented player but I take my hat off to him, he's turned his career around. I have to give him credit. I wish I didn't have to, but I've got to." - He summed it up nicely, and even since then he's gone on to win another cup and a lance todd trophy.
And as for the drop goal last night, classic Briers. Brilliant kick.

| I'd throw Hodgson into the mix too, along with Monaghan, who could possibly win it for us.

| If people believe that players at a certain age start to decline Briers is the opposite of this thesis, he is on an incline.

| He's been superb this year. What is he, just turned 33, two more years would be nice.
It will be a sad day the day he is hoisted around the HJ waving his goodbyes.

| It's an overused term, but dare I say it... Legend.
By far the best Warrington player in the past 20 years, and when we lose him in a playing capacity I sure hope there will be a role for him to work with the youngsters.
Also, keep an eye out for his book, a man with a story to tell and has been on the 'rollercoaster' of the Wire.
BUILD A STATUE!

| I don't see what the point is of bringing up on a thread about Briers, the fact he's better than Gaskell.
Gaskell's just a young player starting out, Briers has been a pro for 14 years.
Briers is also certainly better than Gareth O'Brien, which is of more relevance to us.

| I think Lee would have been the biggest waste of talent in a career in a long time had it not been for him meeting Mr Smith.

Same goes for Martin Gleeson
He was just a nonentity playing at a club which was at the bottom of the league before Smith took over Huddersfield, he had the best season of his life to date and got a contract from St Helens out of it. Next year he had a Grand Final medal. Well done TS.
