Yes, but it does go on to clarify that, unless another club comes in for Cross, he will have to stay until the end of the season, and that Burgess will have to go out on loan until the end of the season too - i.e. it would appear that it is for next year anyway - meaning it could all be for Waterhouse - a spot on the quota, and their two wages combined could pay his??

Or maybe Leeds are struggling with the salary cap for this season. The audits have just been done.

Sorry to derail the OP, but the Luke Burgess issue, obviously the lad wants to go to Aus and fair do's to him, but will he sacrafice enough to enable him to get the full 80 (or whatever his style is) by going to a less sucessful dare i say high profile club.

Can we see the likes of Quins/Salford/Wakey coming in for him on loan? Surely he wouldn't drop to Widnes/Leigh as it would defeat the object? Maybe Cas wil steal him to replace Walker

I don't see how that would even be possible. That would mean they were over the cap by two players worth, which would be utterly bizarre given that we're supposidly in a 'live cap' environment.

I find it very strange that Luke Burgess cannot get a regular starting spot in that Leeds team, I really do. The 'oustanding form' of the players in front of him, is Hetherington having a laugh there or what, their pack has been rinsed at times.

Peacock, Bailey, Leuleui and Kirke all ahead of them. They've got too many front rowers! To offload them at this stage of the season can only mean it's for salary cap purposes. Unless a bean counter has well and truly screwed up, it would indicate Leeds are trying to bring someone in before the end of the year...
