Having watched games this season, it seems to me that we rarely

1. tackle around a players legs

2. pass the ball through hands when we have a clear overlap (several occasions in the last few games) always preferring to throw the miss pace

3. see Ryan A pass to his winger (always cutting inside)

Seems like we need to use the basics

Atkins has put Williams in for tries against both Salford & Hull. I actually think just recently he's started to get better at 'centre play', when to pass, when to keep hold, drawing the winger etc.

Up until he got bent over backwards in a tackle yesterday in the 1st half (which I think ended his full contribution in the game, and didn't look nice.) he was looking very dangerous, as he had in recent games.

Tackle technique is first man clamp the ball carrying arm, second man in lower under the ball, third man in to then slow down the PTB as they peel off 3, 2, 1. It is all about dominating and holding the player up initially then working toward a ten second PTB with the work done on the floor.

With regard to Atkins, I was only saying yesterday how much he has improved his decision making and technique in passing to this winger over the last couple of matches. He hasn't put one in the stand or passed it forward in some time.

Seriously though is there really any need to worry about things like this? You came to our place and we score one try against you.... the tackling technique was fine, it is hard hitting and hurts the opposition forwards, all I would say is that this is less effective on some of the bigger packs... Hudds, Catalans and Hull all have huge games and they make up the 4 losses this season, probably doesn't hurt them as much in defence and attack.

As for the attack... well scoring 82 points isn't too bad, I think that is the second most amount of points scored by a team in the super league era over 80mins. Warrington move the ball really quickly and seem to only go past the centre if a try is on, if it isn't then they often cut inside and either break through or just set up a new play (kind of like barcelona do in football while still playing exciting off the cuff stuff!)

As for Ryan Atkins, he is only like most super league centres, the quality is poor compared to the NRL, it was one position we struggle to filll for England knowing they will be going up against the likes of Inglis and Hodges.

How can a loss against Hull bring this on after recent form?

Things we dont do recently are
A) kick to the sticks when we are in The oppositions 30 metre zone. myler nearly scored three tries by doing this at Wigan last year but I can't remember us doing this recently.
B) force many drop outs. I know we have forced the odd few this year but sometimes we play rugby like Arsenal play football. it is like every time we get anywhere near the oppositions line we have to see the ball go through 5 pairs of hands before we score, it is like we have to come away with a try and it must be the perfect try.
