| Mathers. .
Hodgson is a good signing for us. Well experienced player, and like the other aussies, will most likely play at a whole new level than what we've seen him play in SL so far under Tony Smith. His experience will rub off on the younger players as they come through the ranks and will replace him when he retires.
Funnily enough, I've only ever liked Sam Tomkins when he played for England. Hate him at Wigan, and now he's proving to be a small fish in a very big pond when it comes to Internationals.

| Give Tomkins some time at full-back for England...
One chance in a desperation situation isn't exactly enough to inspire confidence in a youngster.
Clearly the best fullback in England. Take it from someone who spotted Slater before his NRL career started (ie. playing for Brisbane Norths in 2002) and had to put up with a lot of morons saying he was crap before he proved, when it comes to backs, he is the best in the world outside the halves (and some would say verging on best player full-stop).

| Are people on this thread seriously saying they wouldn't break the bank for Sam Tomkins?

| It would appear that some are. Looks like the lunatics are taking over the Asylum again.

I don't think he is worth it. He is no where near the finished article. He has way too many mistakes. Atm he wouldn't inspire me with confidence. Every time he got the ball I would expect him to slip over. He has scored amazing tries and sometimes he does look like he he has wronged the defence but if we had to wait two or three years for him to mature and improve, then we might as well get a youngster like Jordan Burke in. A player who will learn an awful lot from Hodgeson.
He might not be the best fullback in the world but he is certainly what we need right now.

For me he wasn't used enough and there is nothing he can do without the ball the best thing we could have done was use him has a dummy runner cause everytime he got the ball there was a gap in the defence

| tomkins is an exceptional player... anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.
But 'breaking the bank' for him wont happen. He wont be leaving wigan anytime soon... and if he does i imagine it will be for a club in the NRL.

I think his confidence is shaken. Will probably have an excellent year this year. Provided us with many a try last year.
Why?
Can't see how that is relevant.

Which, the ones suggesting that Tomkins is worth "breaking the bank" for?
There are idiot fans everywhere; like the Wigan fans claiming Richards is the best winger in the world.
