| I must admit it's slightly odd to see separate threads congratulating Saints players. I hope they all feel dirty this morning.

i dont think its anything to do with scrote fans, we all have them. Saints historically have acheived plenty paricularly in the SL era and also the challange cup. We enjoy good banter with them and there is a mutual respect. Many are of the opinion that due to the 2 cup wins you believe you are a new super power in rugby league and to be honest many posters direspect the achievements that others have achieved. Respect goes both ways but reading these boards weekly we are mocked for our period of dominance in the cup and league in the eighties and nineties so we cant really be expected to show anything but the same back

I think its because i can respect Leeds and saints as they've built a team from their academies, the spine of those two (+ us) are players that we've produced.
That's not having a massive go, as it's obvious that in a few years your academy will have caught up. But currently you've built a side around 30+ yr old players in a bid for instant success, and for some reason I can't respect that as much.
That added to the fact that SOME (not many) on hear seem to now think wire are the biggest club in the league etc etc. The way some of your posters on here are shocking winners (as are some of ours, and it makes me cringe!)

We dont think that at all, in fact far from it.
Also we have a great academy system and young players coming through, like Riley, Harrison, Cooper, Mitchell, Blythe.... Need i go on.
Tony Smith picks players on form, but likes to mix it up abit sometimes

| Winning back to back Challenge Cups while they have had a rather lean spell based on their history means some of them are abit bitter towards the Wire at the moment.

I grasp your point but most of the sensible Wire fans know we have a very long way to match the records of Saints,Wigan,Leeds + Bradford come to think of it but there's no doubt that there is a little bit of jealousy from other fans that we have megabucks Mr Moran which is probably making us the most hated club in the league + we aint going to get respect if rival fans feel just a little envious.

If your talking about the spine of a team being made up from academy players then thats a bit rich coming from a club that virtually bought their success during the 80's and early 90's, in the main you went with proven ability over academy players, look at the long list of players that Wigan have shipped out over the years that came through the academy and instead you replaced them with foriegners or the best british players you could buy.
Back in the 80's and 90's you had an open cheque book, if you wanted a player you got them ahead of academy players. You produced a few players from the academy during your success but that was just law of averages more than anything else compared to the amount you shipped out. Its only in recent times that you have gone with more academy players and thats not by choice, thats because of the salary cap.

How old are Fielden, Coley, Carmont, Bailey, Roberts, Deacon.
Do you find it difficult to respect your own side?

...Exactly Wigan also used Great Britain tours to unsettle players aswell....
The Pies and Saints fans have been having this love in since we won the cup last year....
When we had Paul Cullen as coach we crap and W**ky Warrington...When a tiny minority cause problems at games(Wigan fans are whiter than white by the way) we're the scum of R.L.When we win back to back cups we're arrogant...
I'm loving it to be honest just sums up how bitter and sad some of them are....
