| I'm not sure about anyone elses opinion but thats as flat as a performance as your likely to see from Warrington, its as if we played like we knew that winning wasn't the bee all and end all tonight.
Congrats to saints as they handled the conditions better, that was key to this game and we simply didn't handle them as well as saints did.
For me John Clarke summed up what the night was going to be like with his effort on Cunningham, or should i say lack of it as he basically stood and watched him go over. Thats not a dig at Clarke, its just something that seemed to sum up very well what our intensity and mentallity was going to be like for the rest of the game.
Monaghan needs to go back to 9 as he offers very little at 7, losing Higham and Hicks so late in the day was a blow as we would have trained all week to a certain game plan which looked like it was going to be similar to wembley with Myler not making the original 17.
Anyway, i feel a bit like our performance tonight.... Not too bothered knowing we have a second chance as tonight really wasn't elimination rugby.
Maybe TS prefers to keep the momentum plan going rather than having a week off, who knows but that was one strange performance tonight.

| I'd like to think we can "switch it on" when it matters but our track record against Saints indicates otherwise. If we are lucky enough to play Saints again this season I can see us performing broadly similar. I think the performance did not befit the great support they got tonight. But I'll trust TS to sort it, he knows we are still lacking what it takes to be real champions.

| I said to something similar tonight. Saints played smart rugby and Warrington didn't.
Briers' kick for the 40/20 in the first half on the second tackle when you'd had no possession is one of the things that should the lack of play off 'nouse' if you will. That was a time to bang out a set, get a decent position and look to find a good kick. If not for a try then for a repeat set.
There was the ball out wide from Briers too when he should have held on, the overlap did look on, but it's a risky ball to throw when you are 40 out from your own line in such a big game.
On a night like tonight, you want to be playing basic rugby. Probably won't come naturally to a lot of your players who have thrown it about better than anyone this year, but it's all about adapting to the conditions you're playing in.

| We weren't good enough simple as. First 10 minutes i really had hope we would actually beat them after scoring twice in the corner. Just weren't good enough.

| Thought Saints got the bounce of the ball aswell, every loose ball seemed to go in their direction. A kick hitting the post to score, Riley gets taken out off the ground and it breaks kindly for Saints and there were other examples. Not saying the result was in any danger but if you have no luck it doesn't help.

| I just don't think you had enough ball to do anything about it. Saints pack made metres consistently and we respected the ball, with very few unfinished sets given the conditions. After the first 10 being all Wire, the next 60 was all Saints.
That can happen no matter how big the game is. If the other team has the ball and doesn't make mistakes it makes it very hard to do anything about it.

There was a lot more than a bounce of the ball. We were as flat as a witches tit for the last 70 minutes.

| We played like we didnt have a kickin clue......
I knew it was going to go wrong before a ball was kicked, when Mathers ran out into the middle of the field before kick off - KIN ELL we DONT DO THAT and haven't done that all season ffs.
Jeez, even Clarky did it at the start of the second half.
I HAVE to believe that TS instructed them to play that way so we can come back later.......coz we were sh..end of.
Can't believe that was the same team that destroyed Leeds..
Not a good night

| Got beat by a team playing 5 drives & a kick. The tries came from forced luck. No arguement here, we were beaten by the better team. Starved us of the ball from 5 minutes in.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

| You're allowed one bad match. You've had yours. String two good ones together and I'll see you on 2nd October.
Good luck. Let's have someone new.

| The thing is, Saints have evolved. 'The Entertainers' now play a pretty low percentage game getting into your end of the field, then have some smart plays in your 20, wrap arounds, cut out to Graham right under the posts etc and it's very effective in conditions like that. We didn't seem to have similar tactics, when we did try it for a set and just go tight to the ruck with say Morley, Carvell & Co taking a drive each we made plenty of metres also but didn't seem to have the patience to stick to this and also the scoreboard to a degree dictated that we did a little more but given the conditions, you were never likely to overturn a deficit in those conditions.
I thought Smith nailed it, no need for any investigation on here, we got outplayed for sure, we'll cop it, learn and hopefully react next week. We've had good bouncebackability this year, i'm sure we will again. Again, reverting to Che mode, "We've been pretty good in knock out rugby ...".
We have got a few problems really, being honest, the Myler situation meaning we're looking a little to reliant on Briers and negating everything that is good about Monas when he's at 7 for one, but we'll all leave that in Smith's capable hands.
It's not a time for us to be down in the dumps, we've had a great year and it might not be finished just yet. We'll cop a bit on here from speccies as it was a poor showing, but who cares ? We've won a competition 2 years in succession, we're still in with a shout with this one. If the wheels do well & truly come off and we're out in a week, it's another year of progression, a year we've all thoroughly enjoyed, and we've got a team that we can be proud of. If this is a bridge too far for us this year, so be it.
This wolf does not bite Che, ever.
