During the pre-match warm up Tony spends a lot of time staring at the opposition doing their warm-up.

During the commentary of Saturdays match, someone said that Sam Tomkins used to support the Wire when he was younger.

How Carney tried to evade Clair Balding's question on who he hoped would win our semi.

he did say wigan in the interview then made out he hadn't. it's easy to make that mistake.

He very clearly said "we".

Tomkins was a Wire fan as a lad, ideal material if you ever fancy a cheap fishing trip over on Cherry n' White.

Smith's staring is quite peculiar, I first noticed it at Featherstone where Powell was doing the exact same thing back, like two cats across a road.

Often noticed TS watching the opposition warm up, even when at Leeds. I have always assumed he is looking out for limps or players favouring a particular shoulder or whatever.

I thought Carney said we, and Tomkins supporting Wire is the biggest juiciest maggot you could possibley have on your hook!

The Tomkins boys dad went to school in Warrington, at Appleton Hall, as it was known then! All 3 of the brothers possibly started out as Wire fans.

As an ex Appleton Hall Grammar School student (term used very loosely, did far less sudying that I should have done), that has me racking my brains now for a Tomkins!

There from 1977 - 1982 with me and Dave Hutchinson, Wire commercial director, as well. Sounds like you did the same amount of studying as me!

'76 to '82 (when I left part way through A Levels- I'd had enough!)

Anyone notice...

After Lee kicked to the corner for Kings hat-trick try early in the second half, whilst the rest of the team swamped King, Lee just turned his back and started walking towards the halfway line with his hands on his head. It was as if that was the point when it dawned on him that he was going to Wembley.

Smith is a student of the game, a real thinker. No doubt he turns the sound down on SKY and will just sit there staring at his TV set for hours on end on Friday and Saturday nights. All the other coaches and cool kids are out with their hooch and sherbet, but Smith knows better. He knows that by forfeiting an evening's shenanigans to make way for study, he can get a head start on his oppoisition and reach the pinnacle of his profession.

Carney said "we can", but his accent is still very broad and exotic to English ears, it can be confusing.

And so what if Tomkins was a Wire fan? Riley was a Wigan fan as a kid and Briers was a dirty, smelly, bin dipping Stain fan. It's not where you're from, it's where you're at.
