| Just heard on triple m that it’s a done deal. I’m lost for words. Like who actually thinks we need to blow a shed full of cash on an overseas fullback given our other recruitment needs?

| Another player who can't tackle.
Should fit right in.

| This seems odd. Thewlis is more than enough for fullback.
Unless Dufty plays in a different position?

| The ONE position we don't need to strengthen. We've got thewlis first choice and Ashton as cover. And what message does this send to that wonder kid taylor-wray in the scholarship? He's seen a young full back crack into the first team and cement his place with some excellent performances only for the club to go out and sign a full back. It beggars belief.

Minikin can play there, and Widdop too! I'd rather have signed another winger to improve cover for next season if we were after a back. For this season we need a big nasty prop, there was a hint this morning that we have a prop incoming, no idea who but it says from the west!
Dufty needs to be excellent or fans will be on the club and coach's back for signing a player who will likely get in the way of the development of our brightest academy graduate. I'm not going to write him off yet because he could be brilliant but I can't say I'm happy with this signing. I agree with you, we are really struggling and have gone and strengthened what has probably been our strongest position this season. I guess that makes it very likely that ratchford won't be retained too.

| I wonder if they are thinking that Thewlis can play wing or centre?
We have to imagine Powell is calling the shots on building his own side so we have to back his decisions then judge on results in Nov 2023.

| If the prop rumour is true(makiele from wests)then we are just going from bad to worse. He is a bench prop who does about 20/25 minutes per game. Unbelievable

| Thomas mikaele we are being linked to, 24, 6'3", 17 St 2lb he's been more an impact type prop for wests but he certainly fits the bill of what we are after. Obviously though, if he is a 10 minute wonder like sita then it's not a great move at all. He could be good for 30 minute stints but west's just haven't been using him that way.
That signing would excite me a lot more than dufty in any case to be honest.

| The Mat dufty thread on the Canterbury forum is a real eye opener! Can Messrs Middleton, moran, Powell and fitzpatrick have a read before he puts pen to paper?

| I honestly didn’t think we would make the Dufty signing due to the utter needlessness of it….can’t get my head around it if true. Even if it were Tedesco or Papenhuzen it would still be a strange decision….as it is to top it off Dufty is pretty rubbish these days and is only coming to SL as a last resort. Woeful decision Warrington, one of the worst and there’s been some tremendous competition.

| If this is true i am seriously done with this club until things improve. Absolute shambles from top to bottom at the minute. We can all see where we need to strengthen, and we target a position that we have plenty of talent AND cover in?? Id act surprised, but i'm not.....
Seriously contemplating staying away Thursday and watching Everton!! How bad is that!!

| If this is true then it must've been agreed by Powell - in which case "Powell Out"!
Ridiculous decision, this club is a bl00dy shambles

You could win on Thursday if the disciplinary committee has a quota to fill this week.
Dufty might seem like a strange signing because of Thewlis, but if you ignore that and assume one of them will play elsewhere like centre or on the wing (Charnley posting videos of himself made by his agency all over social media incidentally) he could be a good signing. The talent is definitely there with him, he has scored some sensational tries in the NRL and at times has looked unplayable. He's lost confidence and is playing in a terrible side, but if you threw Jai Field or Bevan French into the team instead of him they would do no better.
There is a good chance he comes over here and scores some worldies and Sky are hyping him up for Man of Steel. That is as likely with Dufty as him flopping like Austin did and being another player to add to the list of bad signings.
