I can't believe that the lighting levels meet the required standard; whatever the lux levels are?

I know that they need to be a particular level to allow HD broadcast but looked dark to me tonight

Just mentioned it on the Widnes thread, I actually checked my glasses in the first half, thought I'd left my sunglasses on.

Is it anything to do with the pitch?

Would it reflect less?

I went on a massive rant about this in the second half, it was as gloomy as and just asking for someone to put a bomb up that would get lost in the dark.

Not that matters as rusty can't catch them in broad daylight

As GHF said in the match thread; it was the smog!

The lights are the worst in the league from a filming point of view. Its difficult to get anything near a correct colour balance there and the pitch looks like a silvery green. Skin tones are affected as well. I would think SKY would dread a night match there, even with their £millions kit. Just wondering here like, but could they have a 'dimmer switch' or the like ??

I was in the West stand and had to text my mate in the East to see who the Wire player was that was injured! (It was Russell)

It wasn't dark enough that I didn't see some Widnes fans leaving with 23 mins to go though.........

They thought the glow from the home fans would be enough.

It was so bad sky stopped showing the tries,!!

That's because there were so many of them and Eddie was getting stressed his beloved widnes were getting thrashed.

On another vein, why didn't Widnes sell tickets tour for the West stand first? It looks bigger so could have probably accommodated all our fans and they would have to open and staff one stand.

They only have three fingers on a hand probably couldn't count how many stands they have got !!
It would of been the smart thing to do, plus some fans might of the thought away end sold out and not travelled so probably lost out on revenue as a club

Looks like Widnes/Halton Council agree as they went out to tender last month for a floodlight upgrade with works planned to start in May (finishing in August). Google is a wonderful thing.

It would be interesting to see what the Rfl think about this and whether the current floodlighting fits within the guidelines.

I don't think the viewing in the east stand at Widnes is helped by the fairly low roof & the fact that lights in the stand always seem to be in your line of vision ,when sat in the top half of the stand.
