If we're talking about cowards what about Aiton sh*tting his pants when Ash squared up to him, brilliant.

Some absolute idiots you mean. Didn't start the season well but coward was always a ridiculous thing to say....as it was to waterhouse. Nice to see currie starting to fulfill his obvious potential.

i stupidly called waterhouse a coward last year after i watched him constantly walk away from the play the ball near our own line.

of course he isnt a coward... sometimes people say things when they have a preconceived view on a players effort.

no rugby league player is a coward..... some do show a distinct lack of effort when the chips are down though.... i still maintain waterhouse was of that ilk.

currie is a young lad, so i wont ever make a rash judgment on him like that

Yes I can remember this quote and the poster in question. And yes, Currie did have a very good game tonight. But.. there is an aspect of his game that is not quite right and it is when he is running the ball in to the opposition forwards. Bennie is a mongrel, and it doesn't matter how big or ugly the opposing forwards are, he will still go in at full pelt and win the collision. I don't think Currie relishes this aspect of the game though, and he is at his tamest when confronted by a big aggressive pack. Plus, he still gets his body position completely wrong in some of these situations and can lose both yardage and the quick ptb opportunity. Clearly it is rubbish to say he is a coward, you can not play the game week in week out with such a failing, but perhaps this is something we have to accept at this stage of his career from a player that can fill a BR or centre position, and who has the pace to hold off most SL wingers in a foot race to the line. He is still only 20 yrs old and we need to let him mature and gain confidence.

currie has gone missing in some big games... while i wouldnt call him a coward, he has been totally anonymous when we needed the pack to front up.

its easy to big him up on the back of a good team display.... he still has alot to prove..... like winslades says though, he is only 20.... this roller coaster of a season is building his character... these young lads need to develop and the experience wining and losing is valuable experience.

A coward that is our top tackler? seriously give your fkin head a wobble anyone that has thought that, and at 20 i doubt there are many men double his age that would dare go toe to toe with him.

Absolutely, definitely and Totally Plus One from me.
Ben is playing great this season and will be a future Wire Legend, perhaps in a different way to what Super Ben is but still a Wire Legend.

Here's a thought - I don't want Ben Currie charging full pelt at opposition forwards waiting to decapitate him, I want him hitting crash balls wider out and using his pace and ball handling skills to open teams up.

Ben may never be another Westwood in terms of his physicality, but Ben W will never have and never has had the range of skills Ben C possesses even at a young age. It's fair to say other than Ratchford, not many players, forwards or backs have that range of skill.

The best packs have the complete range of abilities, and physiques and collectively they are the complete picture. We've been very lucky to have westwood and we're very lucky to have Currie.

I think the people calling the lad a coward would soon empty their bowels if called on to enter the field of play !

Have to say Irishwire, a bit out of order. I wouldn't like to be in your shoes if he ever read this and met you.

He's not supposed to be a barnstorming impact player yet, but for his age, he does more than ok. He has speed, rugby skills and good size. He's been part of an excellent performance tonight- great kick through for 1st try and great support play (from a back row forward/centre) for his try. He's a good all rounder. I can see why TS has faith and plays him.

I can see that leading us in to thinking someone had called him a coward and then follow it up with according to some posters was really to say shame but I don't know if you had a drink when you posted it Irish? It doesn't initially come across well.

Perhaps a mod could address the header and clarify irish's point? I'm sure he would revise it if he was able.
