| Good read that. I love Mozza and it's good he is able to talk about his faith. Like anyone would take the urine outof him. Well done Mozza, just pray a little harder next time. Big season required again from the captain.

| Gutted to learn he is a united fan. Thought he would have better taste than that.
Fair play to the bloke regarding being open about this faith

| This perfectly sums up one of the myriad problems with religion:
"It's not something new - I was born into it," says Salfordborn Morley, a practising Roman Catholic.
Nobody anywhere in the world is ever born as a member of any organised religion, but I find it very depressing that so many are ostensibly "born into" religion through familial, social and academic indoctrination or a lack of access to the relevant facts that could lead to them making a more enlightened choice.

If he feels it helps prepare him for smashing lumps out of opposing forwards on a Sunday afternoon that's perfectly ok with me.

| I don't care if he douses himself in sheep blood and dances naked round a fire to prepare for a game, I was merely expressing my depression over one of his comments.

so his parents were practicing roman catholic... sent him to a roman catholic school and took him to a roman catholic church every week... is that not being born into a religion?

No that is not being born into a religion. I was born into a C of E family, sent to a C of E school, confimed into that church by my parents when I was young and knew no better and I am now an atheist. You are clearly missing the fundamental point.
It's not like being born into poverty or of a certain race or something else that you have no control over - it's a choice. It's understandakle why he might have grown up a Catholic, because of the external Catholic influences you've mentioned, but the fact of the matter is that children are not born Christian or Muslim or any other religious denomination. Surely you can see that?

obviously.. i was raised in the same way.. and i am now very much an atheist.
I think the context of 'born into religion' is the issue for me as your fundemental point.
Yes it is different than being born into poverty... But its something as a child that is very much thrust upon you (well it was in my case).. so in that respect.. I was born into it.
Children all over the world are born into religion.. especially in the middle east.

I find it a great shame someone could be depressed by an individual expressing their beliefs in an interview. Whilst his and your views may be different on what it is to be born into, or born with a belief, you can't surely be depressed by them?
To talk of "the facts" against, there are many theological arguements which can all provide "facts" on what is the correct path to follow and i'm pretty sure as a 32 year man he has the capabilities to choose whether or not to carry on as a practicing Catholic or to leave the faith to which he felt born with.
There are many theological, sociological and biological arguements which can produce "the facts" to support what it is to be born with or into, not just Atheism. The important fact is that he feels his beliefs enable him to play better, which im sure any Wires fan will allow him
(Written by a C of E member who also also chooses to not follow a religion)
On a lighter note if he can carry on till he is 36 like Giggs I will carry him to the HJ myself!
