| Thought he had a good game today. Certainly adds to the attacking options when he comes into the line.
Worth a starting spot next week @ Hull?

| Agreed, noticed during the warm up and during the game how he was talking to and directing the players.
A good debut IMO.

| He looked good, very confident that he was going to catch all the kicks unlike Riley. However he doesn't have the lightning that Riley has to turn defense into attack. Good problem to have, unsure that Riley is fully utilised on the wing, but if Riley playsfb, where can Mathers fit in?

| Mathers is a far better F.B than Riley he was before today but today he just confirmed it,riley imo is a squad player it may upset a few to say that but he isn't a top class winger and he will be 2nd choice fullback,he is a Warrington lad and you should try looking at is as if he wasn't would you still say he is better than anyone else in any position and the answer would be NO if you are honest.
Mathers played a very similar way to Webb at Leeds today and I know the opposition was poor but you could see his class imo ,His time at the Pie dome must have been down to Brian Knobhead not being able to get the best out of him .
In Tony Smith we trust !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Don't think even though Mathers had a decent debut...you can use the word class imo until we see him up against a better opposition......Its easy to look good when you are playing Nl1 one side.......
Jury is out as far as I am concerned.....
I think Riley can't do more than he has done he has been playing well......and consistently...like most players he makes mistakes....but go down the warrington line up and find me a player that doesn't.

| i think mathers is what we have been looking for, for the past few years, a natural full back, we have always botched around in this position playin players there who dont suit it, mathers all the way

| Weren't we all saying a few weeks ago that Riley ain't a fullback whatever else he is.....so now Mathers is the answer. Maybe Riley could play on one of the wings.

Maybe Riley isn't a fullback...and Mathers may well be good for us...But don't think anyone can start using words like class.....until he has played some better opposition.....
People raved about him when he played for the reserves and I watched that game and I like so many others there didn't see anything in that game...Its good to communicate from the fullback position but in that game he just shouted alot ....but with little or no effect and I was not on my own in that opinion...Hope if he doesn't get selected in the future, he can prove himself...but its consistency and against better opposition no disrespect to Fev, is when we will see his real worth.

Or maybe we can release Penny and bring in a new winger and use Riley as a squad player like he is as imo he isn't good enough if you want to win things at the top he is too slight of frame and build to have an impact at FB or winger imo !
I thought we had got rid of the misgiven loyalties when we binned Cullen please lets not go back to well he is from Warrington so he is good enough era !

| Impressed with Mathers today, supported the ball carrier well for his two tries, pretty solid in defence and although he was never really tested under the high ball i prefer him at Full-Back than Riley. He directed the troops around the park and was very vocal in telling players were they needed to be, starting team next week for me at Full-Back.

I just cannot believe your comments Mathers is no bigger than Riley...and size has little to do with it...Have you watched Hodges the AUSSIE fb playing for Huddersfield, there top try scorer and he's really Big!!!Isn't he...Lets get real...If u are commenting on how you think he plays fine..But size!! Its not about who is from where. It appears to me...that you are quick to knock a player who imo, has done well for Warrington in the last few games and has scored some great trys......being homegrown a bonus

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

No, [iwe[/i weren't.
I wouldn't read to much into this personally, Mathers positions are one and six. Riley's are one and two/five. Riley was a better fit on the wing for the good of the team. That simple.
