If we had a decent kicker we would of come away from that place with points..simple as that but no...that's why we won't contest the end of season comp at old Trafford... Just hope it doesn't hamper our semi final game with clueless Leeds...

So which goal kicker is available that we should look to sign?

Roberts was kicking them over in Oz at 83% success rate!

According to the stats from the Super League stats site, Patton has kicked 43 out of 60 (71.67%) and Ratchford has kicked 177 out of 247 (71.67%) for Warrington in SL, so there's nothing between them.

Patton is as unlikely to be the long term answer to the goal kicking woes as he is to replace Roberts, but while he's out of the starting line up his reputation always builds up a bit, it goes back down when he plays!

Goodwin is at 29 out of 48 (60.42%). Our best kicker by percentages is Livett with 21 out of 26 (80.77%).

our problem with kicking is we don't nail our hat on one. I would let ratch take on the role and stop the chopping and changing. Livett is our best kicker but can not always be on the pitch due to rotation. Goodwin is injured too much and I wouldn't be too upset if he went home with Roberts at the end of the year. let Atkins and king nail down the centre positions.

Josh Charnley kicked 150 goals for Wigan.

In SL I make it 77 from 125 for Charnley at Wigan (61.60%). He kicked for a while when Pat Richards was out, before they signed Matty Smith.

I ain't got any stats to back this up but historically we seem to score more tries out on the wings than most so kicks are that bit more difficult. So a reliable and consistent kicker who can convert from the side line is so much vital to our game. In my opinion as a first time poster!

All our kickers are capable...however the whole teamed allowed Wigan to score tries that left Tomkins/Woods in very kickable areas. Wigan didn't allow us that gesture.
If we bare this in mind then our strike rates will improve.

Strike rates will also improve if our goal kickers can find an hour or two during the week to actually practise!

There is no chance that we can go out and buy a kicker just like that. So we need to get real.

Current reality (the flaming obvious) is that:

1. Harvey Livett: is our current first choice.
2. Bryson Goodwin: has a history of being a decent kicker. I'll guess he practices hard and looks reasonable in practice but he looks short of confidence at the moment (this does happen with almost all kickers at times).
3. Stef Ratchford: has kicked well for us at times but he reckons he goes worse when he practices. Seems strange ... but we are all different. He seems to hit the ball cleanly.
4. Dec Patton: Doesn't get much game time.

* we are not missing many when we score close to the posts

That's it Smithy.
All we need to do is make it easier for our kickers and harder for opposition.

Vs Wigan...Woods is getting all the big praise, but really it was Bateman that purposely stepped up to run hard and illusive into a drop kick zone....Warrington had no answer how to stop his determination to set up the win.....no chance Akauola would do that!
