I watch the game i love and when i am at a live game and a fight kicks off it changes the game.
The fans suddenly fire up beyond what they originally were, the players effort goes up a notch and the game is far more exciting.

Here's the problem, if i watch it on T.V.
the commentators

[i"that's disgraceful behaviour"[/i

then the after match commentary

[i"that's disgraceful behaviour"[/i

and for good measure the papers the next day

[i"that's disgraceful behaviour".[/i

One week later the powers that be ban the players for yes you guessed it

[i'their disgraceful behaviour'.[/i

Now i ask myself this, who helps make the game what it is?

Everyone i ask who loves the game LOVES RUGBY FIGHTS fans and yes believe it or not THE PLAYERS do too . So i ask this

WHATS WRONG? JUST GIVE US WHAT WE WANT (FIGHTS)

cant beat a good old punch up..best one i ever saw was at widnes v wire play off game.when dessie walloped a speccie and all hell let loose...even the fans joined in before during and after the game...looking back that was a bit to much,would`nt like my kids to witness that...but on the pitch fine it fires the crowd up

Especially when there the ones being assaulted.

A mr horrabin or something like that,Could nt belive i witnessed that happening,
Dessie banjoing someone in the crowd..

But yeah if a game is pretty flat a good old dust up can raise the intensity levels,thus fireing up both the speccies and the players..

this game made the itn news at tea time... must av been bad...was it dave lyon who started it...then followed the free for all

Yeah,think it was Dave butter would nt melt in mi mouth lyon who started it,

but give dessie his due,he didnt need much encouragement to get involved with a bit of fisty cuffs...

Although the odd punch-up does get the crowd on it's feet, i would prefer to see some big legal hits going in, like Morley on Crabtree the other year or Morley on Hall against Leeds this year, these type of shots get the crowd and the players going just the same and is also deemed a legal challenge.

Didn't quite compare to the Lancashire cup semi final about a year later when you dicked us at Wilderspool, now that was nasty walking from Central through Bridge st and town over bridgefoot. Bad days though.

But on the pitch fine, fires crowd up and ignites a bit of fizz into the proceedings, but violence has no place on the terraces of RL.

The big fight in the Widnes game started when Dave Lyon hit one of theirs with a high shot and World War three started. The fighting on the pitch splilled into the crowd.

Horabin came on the pitch and threatened Dessie. As far as I recall Dessie was a black belt smacked Horabin. He was charged by the police and found not guilty, Widnes players such as Sorensen testified for him.

ANd yes I like watching the puch ups.

My favorite one was against Widnes at hoem in the cup. Nicko and Doug Laughton started on half way, just before half time. Both were sent off as the hooter went. It kicked off again in the tunell. We counted both sets of players out, Widnes 11 , Wire 12. Paul Woods sent off. In the second half Eric Hughes was sent off for stiff arming Ian Potter. Widnes finishing with 10 Wire with 12.

We won as well.

remember the game against wigan new years day...think it was tony barrow said it was like world war 3...saints away in lancs cup when we had 2 or 3 sent off and 2 more in the bin and we still won....the good old days

What a game (and brawl) that was.

70's and 80's scraps were fantastic at the time and still pretty good looking back. (Cull and Goodway!!!!!!!!! or Boyd and Sorenson!!!!)

Now it's handbags at 20 paces by comparison.

Society has moved on now and as Latchfors Wolves Fan said, I think the big legal hits are the modern equivalent.

As long as it's on the pitch and Bridge isn't involved.
