Is Wrench injured?
Probably. He's always injured and cannot be relied on. Bit harsh, he’s a young kid who’s had some bad luck injury wise. Apparently he’s worked his knackers off to get back stronger than before, plenty of others have been through similar and gone on to have a good career. Yes wish him well but at 25 he is approaching mid career now and needs to string a run of appearances together. 23, a young pup.

| It's like Geoff Boycott always says: add two to the score.
Hope Wrench is ok; he really deserves an injury-free run.

With a couple of games under his belt and King back in the mix it might be a case of Burgess having as the biggest squad headache for the following week. Fingers crossed What a lovely headache to have.

Indeed. Connor Wrench is one of the most exciting talents I have seen coming through for Wire in a long time. It's very sad that major injuries have ruined the past couple of years for him, and left his potential unfulfilled thus far, but he's still young enough to come back strong and have a decade or more ahead of him if he can get fit consistently. Yes, it's an "if", but plenty of fans were writing off Ben Currie after his injury woes in 2016-17, but here he is at the age of 30 playing some of the best rugby of his career.

At this moment in time he cannot be relied upon as he is injured again. I hope he proves me wrong and goes on to have a great career however the amount of injuries he has had is very concerning IMO.

He is exciting with the ball and has natural centres evasiveness. If we are going to get beaten by 40 odd points in a game anyway, I'd much rather we do that with Wrench in the side than the other options.

| Unless Wrench has run over Burgess' dog, I can only assume that he's got an injury concern. From what's been said, Powell and Snyed should be ok, Fitzgibbon was a maybe, King and Vaughan, along with Williams, were hoping to be fit for next week and Crowther, last we heard, was possibly facing a long lay-off.
With this level of uncertainty over so many players it would seem strange to leave Wrench out of the 21 if he was fit. Especially as he needs game time.

It could just be that they are managing his return and being cautious. That would be understandable. Being fit to play again is one thing, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you are instantly back to 100% and ready to play in every game. Of course, I am only guessing as to the reason for his absence, as neither the club nor the WG saw fit to shed any light on it in their squad announcement stories.

| He needs to get his body hardened for extreme collisions again, he’s done a job for the weeks we we’re desperate, it’s sensible for his long term development to manage the impact on his body. In an ideal world, he’s not needed this week or next, then can look at getting more games as people need recovery time.
Good to have King back, and I hope Harthill gets time again.
