Whatever you think about Wood, it seems the majority of club owners are in favour of the change. I get the impression that Simon Johnson and the rest of the previous board were content with just attending meetings, rather than being proactive in their governance. 


I hope Wood isn't a long term appointment, but hopefully it will result in a positive change. I'm sceptical, though. 

I've read a couple of twitter rumours saying, that rather than investing in or buying SL, the NRL will set up their own NRL Europe comp and only want certain teams in it with no P&R, so many teams will be dropped or forced to merge.  


Perhaps, that's what Carney was referring to on Friday when he suggested that what's happening in a few weeks will make 1995 seem like a 'teddy bears picnic'.
