| I'm over the moon with his signing, not been as excited by a signing in a long time. We just need a good forward now, it doesn't have to be a pattick mago style forward, Jack Ormonroyd goes under the radar, but is an old school no nonsense aggressive forward who put it in everytime he hits the field I'd happily swap Musgrove for him, that would immediately strengthen our forwards But to be fair so would bringing Max Wood in to the fold, and watching Okoro's debut it's baffling why he's on a season long loan. As he brought to that 1 game exactly what we are missing, really weird decisions. Leyland although unlucky just needs more time and experience, him and Hayes have more time to learn and picking up skills off Sneyd will be invaluable and help them progress. We need to remember Hayes and Leyland are both very young and at the early stages of their careers, so we don't have to rush them with Sneyd coming in.

I'm pleased too. I think he will make a positive impact fairly quickly.

| I agree with most on here that I am pretty happy with Sneyd signing. But on the other hand I am a bit troubled by it. I am guessing that Sneyd was one of the top earners at Salford so we must have started this season with a sizeable gap in our salary cap which is a bit odd.. So I get that is good to leave a bit of space in case of emergency but with Leyland signing in the off season it all appears a bit reactive. When Hayes is back that might put Leyland 4th choice halfback so I can see a situation where Leyland would end up out on loan (probably at Salford) but the club can't do that straight away because that would look like an instant mistake in signing him in the first place. If Leyland does go on loan how much would he learn from Sneyd. I have been encouraged over the last year or so that we appeared to be setting up for the longer term and looked like we had moved away from looking for instant success but even though I think he will do a great job it does feel a bit of a departure from the long game. Hope it works out.

Maybe Sneyd's contract is back loaded with an increase in 2026 when we will have a lot of cap freed up?

| Chambers said we had spare money in the cap if something came up, Burgess said he was happy with the squad so must have thought he didn't need to use the money just to fill an extra space. And thankfully that's worked out really well for us, but yeah it does make sense if he'll have a wage bump next year. I do get what you mean Deus about Leyland, but hopefully it will be a case of him learning and progressing each year until hopefully he steps up and starts along Hayes at some point. When we'll have the smallest half pairing known to man ha ha

| The challenge is for Hayes and/or Leyland to take the shirt off Sneyd.

The player's cap value, whilst obviously linked to what we actually pay them, is agreed with the RFL. It prevents practices such as paying players a lower sallary whilst 'topping up' by employing their partner to work for the club etc. I'm wondering whether some players may need to go out on permanent loan?

Yes I can understand that paying a partner would not be on, but I cannot see why we could not have a 2 year contract with a player on, say, £80k in year 1 rising to £160k in year 2 for example. In fact I'm sure a lot of contracts have varied terms.

| Is Sneyd available to play for Wire in the next round of the Challenge Cup?
Or is he cup-tied because he has already played for Salford in an earlier round?

He wasn't in the squad for Salford's cup game.
