| From a Wakefield fan in peace, I do think Dufty and/or scrum half option hurt. Williams looked like he was going to beat us on his own but once we started covering him more there was nowhere left to go.
I'm sure you'll be fine when they come back but thanks for a nice day out.

Thanks for the encouragement following a well deserved win. I think we recognise though that Dufty and Leyland/Hayes isn't going to solve the problem of those walkover tries or falling off tackles.

| The club spent to much money on giving Dufty an increased wage (even despite CTW waiting in the wings) instead of using the money to strengthen the pack. He's on a fortune I believe.

| Yesterday was a bit of a mess all round. CTW was named at fullback yet for large parts of the game Ratchford was at fullback organizing the defensive line and CTW was defending third man in. I struggled to get my head around that. It went against the whole next man up principal. Currie started at second row but when Yates came off injured after 10 mins he moved to 13 and then when lindop went off for HIA he ended up playing centre. I don't know which side George Williams is defending on. In the Vegas game Leyland started off on our right edge defence until Nsemba handed him off then the swapped him and Williams so that Williams was defending on the right. It is like we are making it all up as we go along. Based on the previous 2 games I was surprised that Russell was given a starting jersey yesterday. Looks like he was hooked off shortly after half time. I think he will take time to adjust and to work with a settled partnership with his centre and halfback when defending.
Also surprised we have not seen anything of Thomas, Wood or Whitehead so far this season. Especially as Musgrove appears to be out of favour. I guess a couple of them might get the nod for the Widnes game and hopefully get a chance to show what they can do.
All in all a right mess and a lot of it is our own doing.

| I have just watched that Liam Hood try again on the BBC Sport highlights video. So, basically Williams, Russell and Currie all make the tackle on the Wakey player close to the line. Both Russell and Currie then move back into the defensive line while Williams still has hold of the player. Neither Russell nor Currie seem to think that it might be a good idea to act as second marker. And as Williams had not even properly regained his feet, there were effectively no markers when the ball was played, hence Hood strolling through unopposed. An embarrassing shambles that you would not expect to see at any level of the game.

| Goes to show we can't rely on Dufty to dig us out the poop every week with a piece of brilliance that breaks the game open. You need more than that to be a consistent side!
I still can't get my head around us having nearly zero recruitment, does that mean Sam was happy with 2024's team? Cus on paper every other squad has moved on a couple of notches while we stand still.

| Take nothing away from Wakefield, but when they turned up and despite Lindop going over early, it was clear to all concerned that our lack of balance through injury and our in game misfortune, that we were always there for the taking.
What I find difficult to overlook is that we looked devoid of fight and a plan, something that we had in abundance last season. Our route to failure was exacerbated by our own mismanagement, disorganisation and a flatness that bordered on disinterest.
Let's hope for a decent win in the cup and better news on the personnel front the week after.

Agreed. The only explanation I can offer is that everybody had forgotten which player was playing in each position, as mentioned above the chopping and changing in game was mystifying. But all three players were at fault and clearly left it to someone else to handle the immediate danger. I felt slightly for Russell because if he runs in, it creates an overlap so really the support should have come from the open side.

| The team needs to go back to basics and get then right and start building again from there.
Heard pre-season that bosses knew they’d missed all the catches because they couldn’t bid for players not knowing what Vaughan was doing.
Apparently this season is treading water and blooding the academy lads, aiming to go for the GF next season.

Jeez, always next year, literally. Isn't Sam leaving at the end of this season? Even if that's true about this season, why should we pay every week to watch a work in progress? That's like admitting defeat before the season even starts. Ugh.

| No he extended his contract 3 seasons. Saying 2 isn’t enough.
There’s a red flag if you read into it.
